Job summary

AdventHealth in Daytona Beach, FL is seeking a dedicated child life professional to support education and coping for pediatric patients within the interdisciplinary team.

Requirements include a Bachelor's degree in a related field and a Child Life Specialist Certification (CCLS). Excellent communication and documentation skills are essential, along with a commitment to empowering children and families through developmentally appropriate care.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in a related field (Child Life, Education, Recreation Therapy, Child Development or Psychology).
  • CCLS Certification required.
  • Strong communication and documentation skills.

Responsibilities

  • Support education and skills of the interdisciplinary team to advocate for and enhance atraumatic care and comfort techniques throughout the facility.
  • Provides training and supervision for volunteers and maintain positive working relationships with them.
  • Ensures accurate and timely documentation of patient interactions and interventions.
  • Maintains an organized and clean work environment, including playroom, workspace, and storage areas.
  • Other duties as assigned.
  • Provides developmentally appropriate education for patients and their families related to medical procedures, diagnoses, pain management, grief, and bereavement.
  • Uses play as a primary resource with patients and siblings to enhance coping, promote mastery and control, and encourage socialization.

Education

Bachelor's degree in Child Life, Education, Recreation Therapy, Child Development or Psychology
