Job summary

Kitsap Mental Health Services (KMHS) seeks a Child & Family Therapist to provide direct services, including individual, group, and family counseling in homes, schools, and community settings. This full-time, onsite role includes outreach activities and a $3,000 sign-on bonus.

Requires a Master’s in psychology or related field, at least 2 years of relevant experience, and WA licensure eligibility (LICSW/LMFT/LMHC). Driving is required to service clients in the community.

Qualifications

• Master's degree in psychology, social services, or a mental health field.
• Minimum 2 years of job-related experience.
• Must meet driving requirements (21+, license 3+ years, valid WA license, insured transportation).
• Agency Affiliated Counselor licensure can be obtained after hire.

Responsibilities

• Provide direct services: individual, group, and family counseling, crisis intervention, and case management.
• Develop, implement, evaluate, and revise treatment goals in collaboration with the team.
• Educate and support families; coordinate with community agencies to maintain treatment coordination.
• Assist clients in accessing primary care and dental services; coordinate psychiatric care with medical care.
• Provide crisis intervention and coordinate with crisis responders when needed.
• Inform clients about substance use impacts and coordinate with treatment providers.
• Help clients access resources to support autonomy and basic needs.

Kitsap Mental Health Services (KMHS) provides outpatient behavioral health services for children, youth, and families across Kitsap County. Services are delivered in homes, schools, and community settings to help young people address challenges that affect daily life, relationships, and success at school. Primary Responsibilities

• Provide direct services such as individual, group, and family counseling, crisis intervention, and case management to assigned clients.
• Assume primary responsibility for developing, writing, implementing, evaluating, and revising overall treatment goals and plans in collaboration with the treatment team.
• Educate and support clients' families and advocate for clients' rights and preferences. Consult with families and community agencies such as DSHS, court systems, housing authorities, etc., to maintain coordination in the treatment process.
• Assist and support clients in finding and effectively using a primary care physician and a dentist and develop health self-management skills. Work with the team to coordinate psychiatric care with medical care.
• Provide crisis intervention counseling and coordinate with Designated Crisis Responders/crisis services when appropriate.
• Participate in providing information to clients on substance use issues such as the effect on mental and physical health and daily functioning. Coordinate treatment with internal and external substance use treatment providers.
• Assist clients with resources and education to support their autonomy and basic needs.

Minimum Qualifications

EDUCATION: Master's Degree in Psychology, social services, or a mental health field.

EXPERIENCE: Experienced (minimum 2 years of job-related experience)

This position requires driving clients in a personal vehicle on behalf of the agency. Therefore, the incumbent must meet all agency driving requirements, including being at least 21 years old, having been licensed for a minimum of three years, successfully completing a motor vehicle history check, possessing and maintaining a current, valid driver’s license in the state of Washington, and having reliable, insured transportation.

LICENSURE: Agency Affiliated Counselor (can be obtained after hire)

Preferred Qualifications

EXPERIENCE: Intermediate (minimum 3 years of job-related experience)

Business-rated insurance may be required if performing outreach duties.

LICENSURE: Washington License (LICSW, LMFT or LMHC)

*A sign-on bonus is a form of compensation for a new employee in addition to their established salary. Bonus amounts are prorated by FTE, and any changes to FTE before all bonus installments are paid may alter the total payout.
