Job summary

The State of Missouri's Department of Social Services – Children’s Division seeks dedicated professionals to support families and protect at-risk children from harm in the St. Louis area.

You will engage with families, coordinate services, and collaborate with law enforcement and court systems to ensure safety and well-being. Positions emphasize strong case management, community engagement, and flexible duties, with potential for different levels based on experience and education.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent with four or more years of protective services experience
• Bachelor’s degree in Social Work or related field; substitutions allowed
• Social Services Specialist II: HS + five years of protective services experience or Bachelor’s + related experience (substitutions allowed)
• Social Services Specialist III: HS + six years of protective services experience or Bachelor’s + two years of related experience (substitutions allowed)

Responsibilities

• Establish and maintain collaborative relationships with partnering agencies serving children and families
• Assist families to attain stability through appropriate casework and referrals
• Interacts with law enforcement and juvenile officers, other public officials, and community organizations about family issues
• Represent Children’s Division during court hearings and related meetings
• Respond to the needs of children in their homes and throughout the community, providing transportation if needed
• Other duties as assigned

Education
