Job summary

Broward County Public Schools in Pompano Beach is hiring a Child Development Associate (Grant) to support infants, toddlers and three-year-olds at Charles Drew Elementary. You will provide daily care, supervision and developmentally appropriate activities in a school setting.

Eligible candidates hold a Florida CDA or an associate degree with infant/toddler coursework; bilingual skills are preferred. Salary is paid hourly with district-standard benefits and a 196-day calendar.

Qualifications

• Must hold and maintain Florida CDA credential or equivalent.
• Or an earned associate’s degree or higher with infant and toddler coursework.
• Computer skills required; continuing education hours if mandated must be completed on time.

Responsibilities

• Provide daily care and supervision to infants, toddlers and three-year-olds.
• Collaborate with school staff to support children’s development and well-being.
• Perform related duties as assigned within the Head Start program.

POSITION GOAL

To provide for the physical, emotional, developmental, and social well-being of infants, toddlers, and three-year olds.

ESSENTIAL PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE

• Standard high school diploma or satisfactory completion of an approved General Educational Development (GED) Testing Program and must hold and maintain a valid State of Florida Child Development Associate (CDA) credential or equivalent with a focus on infant and toddler development in accordance with Head Start Performance Standards.
• OR
• An earned associate’s degree or higher with coursework in infant and toddler development in accordance with the Head Start Performance Standards.
• AND
• If additional hours of continuing education are mandated by program funding source, they must be obtained within the required time frame for continuing active employment in the position.
• Computer skills as required for the position.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE

Bilingual skills.

SIGNIFICANT CONTACTS-frequency, contact, purpose

On a daily basis, provide care and supervision to infants, toddlers and three-year old children. Frequently interacts with other personnel within assigned school in performing daily work routine.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

Medium work: Exerting up to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 20 pounds of force as frequently as needed to move objects.

TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT

Salary and benefits shall be paid consistent with the District's approved compensation plan. Length of the work year and hours of employment shall be those established by the School Board.
