Child Development and Education (CHDV) Instructor – Part‑time Adjunct Pool (PC)

Salary: $67.00 hourly

Job Type: Temporary – Adjuncts

Location: PC – Main Campus, Porterville, CA

Department: Career & Technical Education

Responsibilities
  • Work effectively and harmoniously with colleagues in an environment that promotes innovation, teaching, learning, and service to a diverse student population.
  • Work effectively with students who have a wide range of skills, motivations, academic, and vocational goals.
  • Develop curriculum, including curriculum delivered via different modalities.
  • Participate in recruitment and articulation activities with local schools, colleges, and universities.
  • Communicate effectively, both orally and in writing.
  • Maintain subject‑matter currency.
  • Assess student learning outcomes.
  • Use computers and explore new technologies that would benefit the program.
  • Demonstrate commitment to the California community college mission.
Minimum Qualifications
  • Master’s degree in child development, early childhood education, human development, home economics/family and consumer studies with a specialization in child development or early childhood education, or in educational psychology with a specialization in child development or early childhood education.
  • OR Bachelor’s degree in any of the above fields and a Master’s degree in social work, educational supervision, elementary education, special education, psychology, bilingual/bicultural education, life management/home economics, family life studies, or family and consumer studies.
  • A demonstrated sensitivity to and understanding of the diverse academic, socioeconomic, cultural, disability, and ethnic backgrounds of community college students.
  • Degrees and credits from accredited institutions; foreign degrees must be evaluated by an accredited credential evaluation service.
