Job summary

The Salvation Army in Augusta, GA seeks a Part-Time Child Care Assistant to provide safe, nurturing care for children in the watch areas. You will support learning, hygiene, and development activities, maintain records, and help set up and clean up children’s parties.

Responsibilities include creating age-appropriate activities, ensuring safety, preparing nutritious snacks, and maintaining a clean, orderly childcare environment.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Two years’ experience teaching child development programs in a church or pre-school, or equivalent.
• Ability to read, write, and communicate in English.

Job Location: GA-AUK Augusta Kroc - AUGUSTA, GA 30904, Position Type: Part Time with Benefits 20 or More, Salary Range: $10.00, Job Category: Child Care, This position is responsible for:

Provides Child Care services for children in the child watch areas including personal care, hygiene, learning and development activities and specialized programs; prepares and maintains records; maintains cleanliness and orderliness of childcare property. Assists with the set-up, oversight, and cleanup of children’s parties as scheduled.

Key Responsibilities

• Provides constant care for the needs of the children in an efficient, clean, loving, safe, secure, and healthy Builds and maintains effective and positive relationships with parents in order to ensure an enriching and nurturing experience for their children.


• Develops and implements hands-on activities which are age appropriate.


• Determines appropriate supplies and materials are available at all times; ensures the children’s safety in utilizing the same.


• Provides opportunities for physical and mental stimulation through both inside and outside activities.


• Prepares and serves children snacks; ensures that children receive nutritional and tasteful food.

Physical Requirements and Working Conditions

Ability to meet attendance requirements. Ability to read, write, and communicate the English language. Ability to observe children and ensure their safety. Ability to lift, hold, and carry toddlers on a regular basis. Duties are usually performed by combinations of sitting, standing, and walking on a frequent change basis. Work is performed in a normal childcare environment where there are little physical discomforts associated with changes in weather or discomforts associated with noise, dust, and dirt.

What We Are Looking For In You

Education and Experience:

• High school diploma or G.E.D., AND


• TWO (2) years’ experience teaching child development programs in a church or pre-school, OR


• Any equivalent combination of training and experience which provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities.
