JOB DESCRIPTION
Job Title: Child Care Teacher (Floater) DEPARTMENT: Child Care
Classification: Non-Exempt CATEGORY: Essential
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Responsible for implementing classroom activities either in the absence of a teacher or on a daily basis in place of a teacher as needed.
  • Design and follow a full schedule of activities and discover suitable teaching material
  • Responsible for overall supervision and daily class functionality
  • Balance your teaching between logical and social exercises
  • Provide basic care and caregiving activities
  • Use a wide range of teaching methods (stories, media, indoor or outdoor games, drawing etc) to enhance the child's abilities
  • Support emotional wellbeing of the children
  • Remain in constant communication with parents and update them on the progress of their children
  • Observe children's interactions and promote the spirit of concord
  • Identify behavioral problems and determine the right course of action
  • Collaborate with other colleagues
  • Adhere with teaching standards and safety regulations as established by organization policies and procedure
  • Supervise children at all times - in classroom, on playground, on field trips, during parties, etc.
  • Report all injuries/accidents occurring during shift to Center Director
  • Be willing to gain more knowledge, experience, and training in the field of Early Childhood Development by attending Center staff meetings and local, state, regional, and national child care meetings/training.
  • Maintain client, employee, and agency confidentiality.
  • Maintain classroom in a clean and orderly manner.
  • Other duties as assigned.
REQUIREMENTS
  • BS or AA in Early Childhood Development, Child Development Associate (CDA), Certificate of Mastery (CoM), Certified Childcare Professional (CCP), or willingness to obtain CDA/CoM/CCP within 18 months of hire.
  • At least one year of experience as classroom teacher in child care setting
  • Excellent knowledge of child development and up-to-date education methods
  • Ability to create lesson plans
  • Patience, flexibility and love for children
  • Strong communication and time management skills
  • Certificate in mandatory reporter, first aid and CPR or willing to obtain within the first month of employment.
  • Be able to lift children assigned to your care multiple times daily
  • Must pass enhanced background check
SUPERVISION

Supervised by the Child Care Center Director.

SALARY LEVEL

Annual Salary Range: $35,235 - $47,569
