Chicanos Por La Causa, Inc. is seeking a caring, responsible individual to support early childhood development in New Mexico. The role focuses on keeping children safe, organizing meals, and creating engaging daily activities that promote physical activity and rest.

The position requires a High School Diploma or GED, a CDA or willingness to obtain one within 6 months, and First Aid/CPR certification. Bilingual Spanish/English is preferred, with NM ECECD background clearance and Food Handlers

Qualifications

• Education/Background: High School Diploma/GED AND Child Development Associate (CDA) or must be willing to work towards obtaining a CDA within 6 months of hire.
• Some experience working or volunteering with young children is preferred.
• Bilingual ability (Spanish/English) is preferred.
• First Aid/CPR Certified or willing to obtain within the first 6 months of employment is required.
• Applicants must obtain Food Handlers card upon hire.
• TB Skin Test or chest X-ray.
• NM ECECD Background Clearance

Help New Mexico (HELPNM) was created in 1965 by the interdenominational New Mexico Council of Churches to support education in their community. Today, their legacy and impact carry on through HELPNM’s work as a fully-owned subsidiary of CPLC. The Office of Learning and Academic Opportunity (OLAO) provides services to children and families from birth to eight years of age. Our priority is to provide general services related to families in the areas of education, health and social/behavioral development. OLAO also provides an intentional, coordinated approach to strengthening the family unit and combines programming for children and adults in order to build strong and stable families.

HOW WILL YOU MAKE AN IMPACT IN THIS ROLE?

• You will supervise and monitor the safety of the children in your care as well as organize mealtimes and snacks for children.
• You will develop schedules and routines to ensure that children have enough physical activity, rest, and playtime.
• You will provide a variety of materials and resources for children to explore, manipulate and use, both in learning activities and in imaginative play.
• You will facilitate children in problem-solving.

Minimum Qualifications And Competencies

Education/Background:
