Job summary

The Salvation Army Childcare Center in Peoria, IL is seeking an engaged Child Care Assistant Teacher to support the classroom teacher and contribute to a caring, educational environment. You will help implement lesson plans, supervise children, and model respectful behavior in a faith-based setting.

Position Title: Child Care Assistant Teacher

Job Summary: To carry out the philosophy of The Salvation Army Childcare Center, to assist the classroom teacher, assume responsibility and duties involving the care and teaching of children.

Reports To: Classroom Teacher/Director

Pay Grade: 202

Salary Range: $15.75 - $18.90 Hourly

Qualifications:

Candidates must have a passion for fulfilling the mission of The Salvation Army and must be articulate in presenting the same to others.

Candidates must successfully pass the pre-employment background inquiry

Education:

High School Diploma or Equivalent.

Physical Demands/ Work Environment:

This Position has a high level of movement and flexibility. You must be comfortable working with small children. You will be on your hands and knees as well as crouching down several times a day to interact with the children. Must be able to sit on the floor with children as well as sit on the small chairs. Low impact sports and interaction with the children will often be required as well as lifting twenty-five pounds often and up to fifty pounds occasionally. This is a high level noise position with children talking, playing and yelling several times a day.
