Child and Youth Program Assistant CY-01/02

Summary

This position is located at Defense Logistics Agency Richmond, VA Child Development Center.

  • Employees receive FREE childcare on the first child, 50% discount on the second child, and 15% discount for each additional child.
  • Recruitment bonus of $500.00 payable as a lump sum at the time of recruitment.
  • Retention bonus of $1000.00 payable at the twelfth month, distributed quarterly over 12 months.

Duties

  • Serves as a Child and Youth Program Assistant, maintaining control and safety of children and youth.
  • Plans, coordinates, and conducts activities to meet physical, social, emotional, and cognitive needs.
  • Establishes a positive environment that promotes interest and interaction among children, youth, and adults.
  • Prepares and maintains indoor and outdoor activity areas, accommodating children with special requirements.
  • Maintains participation data and completes daily reports.

Requirements

  • Must be at least 18 years old at the time of appointment.
  • Requires direct deposit setup and a Social Security Card.
  • Must meet qualification, eligibility, physical, and background requirements.
  • Current health assessment, immunizations, and annual influenza vaccination are required.
  • A probationary period may be required.
  • Successful completion of annual training and demonstrated competence are mandatory.
  • May involve irregular hours, evenings, or weekends.
  • Satisfactory background checks and child abuse/neglect reporting are mandatory.
  • Ability to lift up to 40 lbs., walk, bend, and stand routinely is required.
  • May require administering medications, CPR, and first aid.
  • Travel to various locations may be required; work involves indoor and outdoor activities.

Qualifications

For entry-level (CY-01), a high school diploma or GED is required, along with good communication skills in English.

Higher levels (Skill Level CY-01 and Target Level CY-02) require additional qualifications detailed in the Applicant Information Kit. College transcripts or certificates may be necessary for higher levels.

Education

Minimum education requirement is a high school diploma or GED. Proof of education must be uploaded with your application. Education must be directly related to the position; general education courses do not count.

Additional Information

This vacancy may be used to fill additional positions, and management may assign staff as needed. The area of consideration is within the Richmond, VA, commuting area, including military spouse and involuntarily separated military preference candidates.
