Hourly Rate: $33.23 - $36.41 depending on license

Position Summary

Full‑time Child and Family Therapist position available at Sea Mar's Child and Family Clinic Oak Harbor and Anacortes, WA. The therapist provides individual and/or family therapy, case management, crisis stabilization, treatment planning, and may lead groups. They also provide referrals and coordinate with medication providers, primary physicians, and other community partners. The role requires accurate diagnosis and treatment planning.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

• Assist in ensuring agency compliance with WAC's, RCW's, and other laws, regulations, and contracts.
• Assist in developing and implementing policies and procedures as directed by the Program Director.
• Educate staff about mental health service referrals and psycho‑educational topics such as suicide risk assessment and behavior modification.
• Maintain documentation of mental health services in patient charts.

Clinical Duties

• Provide developmentally and culturally appropriate diagnostic assessments for each patient; document outcomes, justify diagnoses and communicate with collaborative partners.
• Demonstrate knowledge and skills necessary to provide care appropriate to the age of the patients served, specifically children and families.
• Involve family members in assessment and treatment planning as appropriate.
• Collaborate with other professionals to conduct family‑centered assessments and treatment planning.
• Demonstrate knowledge of growth and development principles over the lifespan.
• Identify and categorize each patient’s age‑specific needs (e.g., infant, adolescent, adult, geriatric).
• Refer patients to psychiatric and medication‑management services as appropriate; collaborate with providers to ensure accurate medication presentation and monitor effects.
• Provide individual and/or family counseling in coordination with the system as needed.
• Conduct suicide risk assessment and develop treatment plans to address suicidal ideation or gestures; use case management for follow‑through and build community support.
• Gather information about past mental health services for treatment planning; provide referrals to external providers and exchange information with them.
• Support staff regarding mental health needs of staff or patients; maintain confidentiality and provide guidance on challenging situations.

Productivity Standard

Produce a minimum of 80 encounters, equaling at least 80 hours of face‑to‑face contact.

Qualifications

• Understanding of behavioral health organization, county, and/or MCO contracts and ability to tier clients in a managed‑care system.
• Ability to accurately diagnose mental health issues and develop treatment plans based on diagnoses.
• Understanding of chemical dependency treatment and coordination with providers.
• Must complete an annual clinical competency test as a mental health therapist.
• Must sign a permanent oath of confidentiality covering all patient related information.
• Must pass a background check.

Education and Experience

• Master’s degree in psychology, counseling, or social work with coursework in psychological diagnostics.
• Must hold a license in Marriage and Family Therapy (LMFT), Mental Health Counseling (LMHC), or Social Work (LICSW or LASW) if licensed.
• If not licensed, must hold and maintain an active Washington State Agency Affiliated Counselor License or mental‑health Associate License.
• Must possess a Child Mental Health Specialist credential or be working toward one.
• Must meet WAC requirements for a Mental Health Professional.
• Computer proficiency with Cerner, MS Office, and other medical software.
• Experience with evidence‑based models and wrap‑around services preferred.
• Experience working with children and families required.
• Bilingual Spanish/English highly desirable.
