- Full Panel , On-Site , Part-Time , Supplemental
SOS Wellness LLC - Middletown & Norwood (Cincinnati), OH - On-site and telehealth
Job Type: 1099 Independent Contractor - part-time, supplemental, or full panel
Pay: Competitive rates for today's market
Location: Middletown or Norwood (Cincinnati) - on-site hours preferred, with telehealth as part of the mix
Schedule: You set it - half-days, single days, after-school blocks, or a standing weekly clinic
Build the child and adolescent service, don't inherit one. Set your own hours. 1099, on your terms.
SOS Wellness is a modern behavioral health practice built from the ground up in Southwest Ohio. We are opening our child and adolescent psychiatry service and hiring the physician who will shape it - the intake criteria, the age bands, the referral relationships, and how families are treated from the first phone call.
This is a 1099 contract role designed around flexibility. Whether you have one afternoon a week alongside a hospital appointment, a standing after-school clinic, or the bandwidth for something closer to a full panel, we build the schedule around what you can give.
Southwest Ohio families wait months for a child psychiatrist. We already see the referrals we cannot yet take. If you want your hours to land where the need is most acute, this is that.
Why physicians take this role
- You are building it, not staffing it. Our pediatric volume is small and growing, and the service is being designed now. You will have real say over clinical standards, intake criteria, and how the child and adolescent program develops - not a handed-down workflow.
- The schedule is genuinely yours. Half-days, one day a week, after-school blocks, or a full panel - you choose the days, the hours, and the volume. If your availability changes next quarter, we adjust. Flexibility is the entire point of how this role is structured.
- In-person and telehealth, blended. We are prioritizing physicians who can spend at least part of their hours on site in Middletown or Norwood. Telehealth is a real part of the model - and telehealth patients are seen in the office periodically, because with kids and teens some visits simply need to happen in the room. The blend is worked out with you.
- Collaboration with our nurse practitioner team. You will serve as collaborating physician for our psychiatric NPs - chart review, curbside consults, and clinical guidance on complex cases. It is a real part of the role and it is paid as such. For most physicians it is the most interesting part of the week: high-leverage clinical thinking without carrying the panel yourself.
- A real admin team, not a promise of one. Billing, prior authorizations, intake, scheduling, and front-office work are handled. You are not chasing prior auths at 9pm or calling schools between patients unless you want to.
- No hospital call. No rounding. No cross-coverage. You are responsible for your own patients' urgent needs - and only your own. You will never be paged about a panel you have never met.
- Wraparound already exists around you. Therapists, case managers, and a nursing team are in place, so a child you evaluate does not leave with a prescription and nothing else. Integrated treatment planning is how we already work.
- Collegial by design. Small team, active group chat, regular case discussion, and a medical director with 30+ years in community mental health and addiction medicine who still sees patients - including our pediatric patients today.
- Neurodiversity-affirming in practice, not just on the website. Autistic and ADHD kids and their families are a population we take seriously and are structured to serve well.
What this isn’t
A 30-patient-a-day mill. A practice still running on 2010 systems. A contract that quietly turns into full-time. A fully built pediatric panel waiting for you to sit down in it - we are honest that this service is being stood up, and the physician who takes this role should want that.
The modern-practice basics
- Valant EHR - documentation that does not fight you
- Telehealth built in, not bolted on
- Billing, prior authorizations, intake, and scheduling handled by a dedicated admin team
- CARF-accredited, OhioMHAS-licensed, LegitScript-certified - the credibility is there, the bureaucracy is not on you
- Interview to offer in about one week
The role
- Psychiatric evaluations and ongoing medication management for children and adolescents
