Job summary

Boys Town is seeking a board-certified child and adolescent psychiatrist to provide comprehensive outpatient care. You will perform assessments, diagnose conditions, and develop evidence-based treatment plans in collaboration with a multidisciplinary team.

Job description

Provides comprehensive psychiatric evaluation, diagnosis, and treatment to our outpatient clientele. Helps individuals manage their mental health conditions and improve their overall well‑well‑being.

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES & DUTIES:
  • Conducts thorough psychiatric assessments to diagnose mental health conditions.
  • Formulates accurate treatment plans based on assessment findings and clinical judgment.
  • Schedules and conducts regular follow‑up appointments to assess patient progress.
  • Modifies treatment plans as required to meet changing patient needs.
  • Prescribes and manages psychotropic medications as appropriate.
  • Monitors medication efficacy and side effects, making adjustments as needed.
  • Educates patients about their medications, potential side effects, risks and benefits.
  • Provides psychotherapy or counseling services as needed or collaborate with therapists and psychologists to offer comprehensive care.
  • Offers evidence‑based therapeutic interventions, such as cognitive‑behavioral therapy (CBT), dialectical‑behavior therapy (DBT), and others.
  • Provides crisis intervention and emergency consultations as needed.
  • Assesses and manages acute psychiatric crises and coordinates higher levels of care when necessary.
  • Maintains accurate and up‑to‑date patient records, including assessment notes, treatment plans, progress notes, and other relevant documentation in compliance with healthcare regulations.
  • Collaborates with a multidisciplinary team, including psychologists, social workers, nurses, and support staff, to ensure holistic patient care.
  • Consults with other healthcare providers and specialists as needed for comorbid medical conditions.
  • Stays current with developments in the field of psychiatry by participating in continuing education, attending conferences, and reading research literature.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:
  • Strong diagnostic and clinical skills.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Empathy and a patient‑centered approach to care.
  • Willingness to work collaboratively in a team‑based environment.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Medical degree (MD or DO) from an accredited medical school required.
  • Board certification in child and adolescent psychiatry required.
  • State medical license to practice psychiatry required.
  • Completion of a psychiatry residency program and child fellowship required.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Experience in outpatient psychiatry preferred.
  • Knowledge of electronic health record (EHR) systems preferred.
