Job summary

Preferred Behavioral Health Group in Brick, NJ is seeking an Advanced Practice Nurse—Children's to provide psychiatric evaluations, diagnostic impressions, and medication management under supervision of a collaborating physician. This role serves children and adolescents ages 5 to 21 with a trauma-informed approach, coordinating care with multiple departments across the agency.

Applicants must be licensed in New Jersey as an RN with a Master's in Psychiatric Nursing, and ANCC-certified;

Qualifications

• Licensed RN in New Jersey with a Master's in Psychiatric Nursing or related field.
• ANCC certification as Clinical Specialist in Adult PMH Nursing or PMH Nurse Practitioner.
• Experience with child/adolescent populations; bilingual a plus.

Responsibilities

• Conducts initial and ongoing psychiatric assessments under supervision.
• Provides education on medications to clients and guardians.

Education

Job Description/Summary

Provide Psychiatric evaluations, diagnostic impressions, and medication management under supervision of collaborating physician.

This provider provides psychiatric and limited medical care to children and adolescents ages 5 to 21.

Responsibilities

• Conducts initial and subsequent psychiatric assessments in which provider evaluates, diagnoses, prescribes, and administers medication under the supervision of collaborative physician.
• Provides education on medication needs, dosage, administration, and potential adverse reactions to clients and guardians.
• Provides training and consultation to program staff including medical direction to case assessment, treatment plans and service provision.
• Works effectively with the full spectrum of diagnosis disorders.
• Demonstrates clinical facility in psychotropic medication use, side effects and indications for psychiatric intervention, in children, adolescents (if a child prescriber) and adults.
• Initiates and evaluates diagnostic tests.
• Conduct drug utilization evaluation and monitoring to inform the prescribing process.
• Reviews client medications currently being taken and their efficacy, potential side effects, contraindications, and identification of alcohol and/or drug use as part of evaluation.
• Provides record keeping in an accurate and timely manner including up-todate individual record of all medications, including nonprescription and non psychoactive medications, prescribed for and used by the person served including name of medication, dosage, frequency, instructions for use, and the prescribing professional shall be documented.
• Includes client, or their parents or guardians, in making decisions related to the use of medications and ensures medication consents are signed in a timely manner.
• Trauma informed approach to care

• Coordinate services with multiple departments across the agency

Qualifications

• Licensed Registered Nurse in the State of New Jersey and holds a Master's Degree in Psychiatric Nursing or a related mental health field and is certified by the American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC) as either a Clinical Specialist in Adult Psychiatric/Mental Health Nursing or a Nurse Practitioner in Psychiatric/Mental Health Nursing. All required NJ Licensures, CDS and DEA etc.
• Experience working with child and adolescent patient populations required.
