Job summary

FOUND strives to convert its fleet maintenance expertise into essential software for repair shops and truck stops. We seek a founding CTO to own the technical vision and drive MVP to production across web, mobile, backend and integrations.

You will write significant code, hire and mentor the first engineering team, and design real-time GPS, ETAs and marketplace foundations. This is a rare chance to shape two ventures with founder-led funding and real customers from day one.

Qualifications

• 8+ years building software, including at least one product from blank page to paying users.
• Experience as a founding engineer, early-stage CTO or tech lead at seed to Series B startup.

Responsibilities

• Own the technical vision, architecture and stack for both products.
• Write substantial early code across web, mobile, backend and integrations.
• Build real-time, location-aware features: GPS tracking, live ETAs, parking inventory and links.
• Design the marketplace and SaaS foundations: multi-sided profiles, subscriptions, payments and permissions.
• Hire, lead and mentor the first engineering team once funding closes.
• Evaluate outside contractors and inherited code.
• Work with the founders on the roadmap, the budget and investor conversations.
• Over time, take on technical leadership of the second venture too.

Job description

Our founder has spent six years running a full-service fleet maintenance business whose customers include major national carriers and logistics companies. Instead of opening truck stops nationwide, we’re turning that operating know-how into software that plugs into the repair shops and truck stops already out there. The same founders are also building a second venture, a matching platform for founders, creators and investors. The role starts with one venture and may grow into leading technology across both. Significant family-office funding is secured, and the MVP is already scoped.

Responsibilities

• Own the technical vision, architecture and stack for both products, from MVP to production.
• Write much of the early code yourself across web, mobile, backend and integrations.
• Build real-time, location-aware features: GPS tracking, live ETAs, parking inventory and customer status links.
• Design the marketplace and SaaS foundations: multi-sided profiles, subscriptions, payments and permissions.
• Hire, lead and mentor the first engineering team once funding closes.
• Evaluate and manage outside contractors and inherited code.
• Work with the founders on the roadmap, the budget and investor conversations.
• Over time, take on technical leadership of the second venture too.

Qualifications

• 8+ years building software, including at least one product you took from a blank page to paying users.
• Experience as a founding engineer, early-stage CTO or tech lead at a seed to Series B startup.

Required Skills

• Full-stack depth in a modern stack, such as TypeScript, React / React Native, Node or Python, Postgres, and AWS or GCP.
• Experience with marketplaces, field-service or fleet software, logistics, or real-time mobile and GPS products.
• A track record of recruiting and leading engineers, plus a network to hire from.
• An owner’s mindset and comfort with ambiguity.
• Willingness to spend time with shops, truck stops and drivers.

Preferred Skills

• A background in trucking, logistics, telematics or fleet maintenance software.
• Experience with matching, recommendation or community products.
• Integration experience with ELD, telematics, mapping or payments APIs.
