Expert, Medical Imaging, Multimodal AI, and Clinical-Grade Systems
We are seeking a visionary Chief Technology Officer (CTO) to lead the technical, scientific, and engineering direction of our multimodal diagnostic intelligence platform. This role is designed for a senior technology leader with deep expertise in medical imaging, radiology workflows, machine learning research, and large‑scale AI system deployment. The CTO will define the technical roadmap, architect next‑generation multimodal models, and ensure our platform meets the highest standards of clinical reliability, regulatory compliance, and scientific rigor.
This is a role for a builder, a strategist, and a scientific leader — someone capable of driving innovation from concept and research through production‑grade deployment across clinical environments worldwide.
If you’re excited about building technology that can genuinely improve lives around the world, we’d love to meet you. We’re a small, focused team with a big mission: to elevate radiology services globally.
This is a chance to help shape something that matters — not just another product, but a platform that can transform diagnostic care for millions of people. As part of our executive team, you’ll have real ownership in the company you’re helping to build, including meaningful equity and a direct hand in defining our future.
If you’re driven by purpose, energized by innovation, and ready to build something with global impact, we’d be thrilled to have you join us.
Role Overview
The CTO will oversee all technical functions, including AI research, engineering, infrastructure, data operations, security, and regulatory technology. You will shape the long‑term architecture of our multimodal platform, lead high‑performance technical teams, and partner closely with product, clinical, and executive leadership to deliver breakthrough diagnostic intelligence capabilities.
You will be responsible for ensuring that the company’s technology is robust, scalable, clinically validated, and aligned with the company’s mission to transform medical imaging and diagnostic workflows.
Key Responsibilities
- Set and drive the company’s technical vision and long‑term architecture, ensuring alignment with product strategy, clinical needs, and regulatory pathways.
- Lead ideation, research, and development of next‑generation multimodal models across CT, MRI, X‑ray, ultrasound, and fusion architectures.
- Architect and oversee deep academic‑level research, including novel model designs, benchmarking, ablation studies, and scientific validation.
- Translate research outputs into production‑ready systems, ensuring reliability, scalability, and clinical relevance for real‑world diagnostic workflows.
- Build and manage pipelines for dataset ingestion, cleaning, labeling, augmentation, multimodal alignment, and large‑scale imaging data management.
- Oversee engineering teams responsible for platform development, cloud infrastructure, inference optimization, and deployment across edge, device, and clinical environments.
- Conduct expert‑level model evaluation, error analysis, robustness testing, and optimization for high‑performance inference.
- Ensure all workflows meet high regulatory standards, including data governance, auditability, reproducibility, and compliance expectations for medical AI (FDA, CE, HIPAA, GDPR).
- Establish security, privacy, and reliability frameworks for clinical‑grade AI systems.
- Collaborate closely with product, clinical, and scientific partners to deliver models that meaningfully advance diagnostic intelligence and clinical decision support.
- Recruit, mentor, and lead world‑class engineering and research teams, fostering a culture of innovation, scientific excellence, and operational discipline.
- Represent Umedex AI externally, including scientific conferences, clinical partnerships, and strategic technology collaborations.
Required Experience
- Master’s Degree or PhD in Computer Science, Machine Learning, Artificial Intelligence, Biomedical Engineering, or a closely related technical field.

- Expert proficiency in PyTorch, TensorFlow, Ultralytics YOLO, MONAI, and Hugging Face ecosystems.
- Demonstrated experience with medical imaging datasets, DICOM workflows, PACS systems, and radiology modalities.
- Hands‑on use of FiftyOne, Roboflow, Labelbox, V7, or Encord for dataset curation, annotation, and quality control.
- Strong background in segmentation, detection, multimodal architectures, and imaging‑specific preprocessing pipelines.
- Experience deploying models using Core ML, ONNX Runtime, NVIDIA TensorRT/DeepStream, or major cloud ML platforms (Azure, AWS, GCP).
- Solid engineering foundation in Python, GPU computing, distributed systems, Docker/Kubernetes, and scalable ML infrastructure.
- Familiarity with regulatory frameworks relevant to medical AI, including data privacy, auditability, reproducibility, and clinical validation standards.
- Demonstrated ability to lead research initiatives and publish or present advanced imaging work at academic or industry venues.
Preferred Qualifications
- Prior collaboration with radiologists, imaging scientists, or clinical imaging teams.
- Experience building multimodal (vision + text) diagnostic or triage models.
- Experience scaling AI systems in regulated environments (FDA, CE, HIPAA).
- Background in edge deployment, mobile inference, or device‑level optimization for clinical hardware.
