The US base salary range for this full-time position is $80 -130 /hr + benefits. Our salary ranges are determined by role, level, and location. The range displayed on each job posting reflects the minimum and maximum target for new hire salaries for the position across all US locations. The Systems Engineer will provide additional systems engineering support to NASA's Earth Science Data and Information System (ESDIS) Project, with a primary focus on the development, capture, analysis, and documentation of lessons learned across mission and project activities.
ESDIS manages the science systems associated with NASA's Earth Observing System Data and Information System (EOSDIS), supporting the processing, management, archive, and distribution of Earth science data from satellite missions, airborne and in situ observations, field campaigns, and derived science products.
The selected Systems Engineer will work with ESDIS project personnel, technical teams, mission stakeholders, Distributed Active Archive Centers (DAACs), Science Investigator-led Processing Systems (SIPS), and other stakeholders to identify lessons learned throughout the mission lifecycle. The engineer will evaluate technical and programmatic experiences, identify recurring issues and successful practices, and develop actionable recommendations that can be applied to future missions and ESDIS activities.
