City of Boston seeks a Commissioner of Assessing to lead valuation and assessment of real and personal property for taxation. • A Bachelor's degree in business administration, finance, or accounting may substitute for two years of experience.
• Extensive knowledge of municipal assessment laws, rules, and regulations in Massachusetts.
• Real estate assessment or property tax experience.

Responsabilités

• Directs annual assessment of over 180,000 parcels valued at over $229+ billion to ensure timely bill issuance and revenue collection.
• Oversees billing of automobile and boat excise taxes and tax-related processes.
• Manages the Assessment Department budget, hiring, contracts, and personnel, and oversees department hardware/software.
