Job summary

Alston Construction is seeking a VP of Preconstruction to lead the establishment and maintenance of best-in-class preconstruction services across the company. You will mentor staff, set strategic goals, and partner with leaders to improve client satisfaction and profitability.

Qualifications

• Degree in Construction Management, Engineering, Architecture, or related field.
• Minimum of 15 years of experience successfully estimating (conceptual and hard bid) construction projects for a general contractor.
• Equivalent combination of education and experience will be considered.
• Proven track record of effectively managing others.
• Design-build experience on relevant project types.
• Experience in value-engineering.
• Valid State-issued driver's license and vehicle insurance which meets Alston Construction liability coverage requirements and satisfactory driving record.
• OSHA 10-hour Certification.
• First Aid/CPR Certification.

Responsibilities

• Lead and mentor Preconstruction staff across multiple offices.
• Establish and maintain best-in-class Preconstruction processes, procedures, and standards.
• Develop department strategies aligned with company goals and profitability.
• Manage the Preconstruction department for assigned offices and assist with business development.
• Develop and communicate cost estimates, design assistance, and constructability reviews.
• Coordinate with marketing, project teams and executives to win opportunities.
