Job summary

Insight Housing in Berkeley, CA seeks a dynamic Chief of Philanthropy & External Affairs Officer to drive fundraising, policy advocacy, and external engagement. You will report to the CEO, lead a philanthropy and policy team, and oversee donor relations, major gifts, grants, events, and communications while working to raise $3M annually.

You will build partnerships, shape advocacy efforts, and ensure effective stewardship and reporting to the board and stakeholders.

Qualifications

• Proven ability to secure six- and seven-figure gifts and grow annual revenue.
• Strategic thinker who connects philanthropy to housing and real estate priorities.
• Excellent relationship builder with donors, funders, and policymakers.
• Strong communicator and brand/MarCom leader with storytelling skills.

Responsibilities

• Lead an integrated fundraising strategy to meet annual revenue goals of $3M+.
• Oversee all aspects of individual giving, foundations, major gifts, events, and campaigns.
• Cultivate and steward top donors and prospects in collaboration with the CEO and board.
• Guide donor engagement, prospect identification, tracking, and reporting systems.
• Supervise grants, research, proposal writing, and reporting functions.
• Partner with leadership to shape policy and advocacy campaigns and coalitions.
• Oversee external affairs, communications, and brand management to support fundraising.
