Lead a Growing Academic Pediatric Emergency Medicine Program at an Expanding Children’s Hospital – Baylor College of Medicine Faculty Appointment

Pediatric Search Partners is honored to lead the search for a dedicated, passionate leader to serve as Chief of the Section of Emergency Medicine at CHRISTUS Children’s Hospital and employed by Baylor College of Medicine. This is a rare opportunity to lead an expanding program within a growing children’s hospital that is the first and only freestanding, academic, not-for-profit children’s hospital in San Antonio, offering the resources of a major health system, the commitment of a mission-driven, dedicated children’s hospital, and the academic strength of Baylor College of Medicine.

The Opportunity

The successful candidate will provide strategic and clinical leadership for a dedicated pediatric emergency medicine program with responsibilities including:

• Delivering exceptional clinical care to critically ill and injured children in a Pediatric Emergency Department setting
• Oversight and advancement of section operations, quality initiatives, and administrative priorities
• Leading a highly skilled team of 28 Pediatric Emergency Medicine physicians and 16 advanced practice providers (NPs/PAs)
• Teaching and mentoring fellows, residents, medical students, and staff
• Collaborating closely with pediatric subspecialists and hospital leadership to support program expansion

This key role is employed by Baylor College of Medicine and reports to the Chair of Pediatrics. It includes a faculty appointment within the Department of Pediatrics along with highly competitive compensation and full benefits package. The successful candidate’s credentials and experience will determine the rank of the academic appointment at the Associate Professor or Professor level.

Candidate Qualifications

• MD/DO degree
• Completion of an accredited Pediatric Emergency Medicine fellowship
• Board certified in General Pediatrics by the American Board of Pediatrics
• Current certification in Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) and Advanced Trauma Life Support (ATLS)
• Eligibility for Texas medical licensure
• Demonstrated leadership experience and commitment to academic pediatric emergency medicine
