Confidential is seeking a Chief Operating Officer to lead customer experience, logistics, and vendor management for a food manufacturing operation at scale. Job description

The Chief Operating Officer leads customer experience, logistics, and vendor management for a food manufacturing company, bringing hands‑on operational expertise in food production, distribution, and the regulatory demands unique to the industry. Reporting to executive leadership, this role sets the strategy for every customer touchpoint while overseeing the day‑to‑day realities of running a food manufacturing operation at scale.

Responsibilities
  • Own and continuously improve the complete customer journey, from onboarding and order placement through delivery, issue resolution, and ongoing account support, grounded in food manufacturing operational practices
  • Lead Customer Service by establishing clear expectations, processes, training, and accountability, ensuring inquiries, orders, concerns, and requests are handled accurately and promptly
  • Oversee logistics to achieve accurate, timely, and cost effective delivery, proactively resolving transportation issues while managing the added complexity of perishability, cold chain requirements, and food safety compliance
  • Manage Vendor Services to ensure vendors meet service level requirements and adhere to corporate policy, including ongoing management of co‑packer relationships after onboarding and stabilization
  • Lead and grow the foodservice sales division, expanding distribution and strengthening broker and customer relationships while developing new customers, distributors, GPOs, and channels that drive profitable growth
  • Establish and monitor KPIs for customer satisfaction, delivery performance, order accuracy, vendor service, retention, sales, and profitability, using results to drive continuous improvement
  • Partner cross functionally with Sales, Purchasing, Quality Assurance, Finance, R&D, and Marketing to align priorities and ensure decisions account for the regulatory, quality, and safety requirements specific to food manufacturing
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in business administration, supply chain, customer experience, marketing, or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Five or more years of progressive leadership experience across customer experience, customer service, sales, or logistics, including at least five years in a senior leadership role, with food manufacturing experience required
  • Strong working knowledge of food manufacturing operations, market dynamics, and applicable quality and regulatory expectations
  • Proven ability to build and lead high performing teams, manage accountability, and interpret data to drive sound, timely decisions
  • Exceptional communication and relationship management skills, with the ability to influence stakeholders and build trust with customers, vendors, brokers, and employees
  • Demonstrated track record of simplifying processes, implementing change, and sustaining measurable results in a fast paced food manufacturing environment
