Chief of Staff to the CEO at BairesDev
In this role, you'll operate as a true extension of the CEO, a strategic operator and force multiplier who amplifies their effectiveness and accelerates execution across the entire company. You'll serve as a trusted advisor on the most consequential decisions and lead special projects the CEO personally oversees, blending strategy, operations, and execution enablement. It's a leadership position for someone who loves bringing structure to complexity and thrives on autonomy, with unparalleled exposure to every facet of the business and a level of ownership you are unlikely to find anywhere else.
What You'll Do:
- Strategic Partnership & Counsel
- Trusted advisor: Act as a thought partner and sounding board to the CEO on strategy, organizational design, and the highest-stakes business challenges and opportunities, providing objective counsel and candid feedback.
- Eyes and ears: Serve as the CEO's eyes and ears across the organization, ensuring the CEO has the information needed to make important decisions, and that decisions and context flow from the CEO and leadership team to the right parts of the company.
- Stand-in: Represent the CEO in meetings and forums when needed, taking key actions, making decisions within agreed guardrails, and speaking on the CEO's behalf.
- Decision support: Bring data-driven insights and analysis to CEO decision-making, analyzing large amounts of information quickly to reduce complexity and produce actionable recommendations.
- Operating Cadence & Execution
- Strategic execution: Translate the CEO's vision into clear priorities and ensure follow-through across the organization, tracking commitments made in leadership forums and driving them to closure.
- Special projects: Lead critical cross-functional initiatives and special projects for areas the CEO personally oversees, from conception to completion, often ambiguous, high-priority, and spanning multiple teams.
- Swiss army knife: Serve as a versatile problem-solver willing to do whatever it takes to make every part of the company successful, with no job too big or too small to be done the right way.
- Time allocation: Ensure the CEO's time is focused on the highest-impact areas, optimizing and prioritizing the CEO's agenda in partnership with the Executive Assistant.
- Meeting excellence: Own high-priority meetings for the CEO, structuring agendas and attendee lists, scoping and reviewing pre-read materials, capturing decisions, and following up on action items.
- Engagement prep: Prepare the CEO for all key engagements, including board meetings, investor conversations, customer executive briefings, press, and public appearances.
- Communications & Narrative
- Executive communications: Develop compelling content and narratives for internal and external consumption, including company all-hands, board and investor presentations, strategy memos, external interviews, and key meetings.
- Organizational alignment: Ensure strategy cascades clearly to the broader organization, bridging communication gaps between the executive team and departments so everyone understands priorities and context.
- Board & investor support: Drive preparation of board materials and investor updates, managing the cadence of board and stakeholder communications.
- Leadership Team & Organization
- Leadership team cohesion: Provide glue for the executive leadership team, balancing priorities across the CEO and other executives, brokering alignment, and building consensus with senior leaders.
- Process & scale: Streamline internal workflows and build scalable, repeatable processes where none exist yet, documenting and systematizing what works.
- AI leverage: Champion the use of AI and automation tools to streamline executive and company processes, improve decision speed, and multiply the output of small teams.
What we are looking for:
- 7+ years of experience in strategy, business operations, management consulting, investment banking, product strategy, or prior Chief of Staff roles, ideally within high-growth technology companies.
- Proven ability to bring structure to ambiguity, taking a vague problem, clarifying the problem statement, driving alignment, and translating strategic goals into actionable plans with quantifiable impact.
- Strong strategic thinking paired with execution discipline, able to zoom out to see the big picture while staying close to the details that ensure progress.
- Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, with a track record of refining leadership messaging and influencing, aligning, and inspiring stakeholders at all levels, from individual contributors to the board.
- Analytical and resourceful approach, comfortable navigating large data sets and using data and insights to make informed judgments.
- High agency and a bias to action, thriving with autonomy, managing with urgency through ambiguity, and taking 100% ownership of outcomes.
- Exceptional interpersonal skills and emotional intelligence, building trust quickly, embracing and giving candid feedback, and operating with positive energy.
- Deep discretion and integrity in handling confidential information.
- Genuine fluency with, or strong curiosity about, modern AI tools and their application to business workflows.
- Mission-driven mindset, with authentic enthusiasm for the company's space and alignment with its values.
- Advanced proficiency in English.
Why This Role:
- Unmatched vista point: You will see how every part of a scaling technology company works, including product, go-to-market, people, finance, and board dynamics, from the CEO's seat.
- Career acceleration: Chiefs of Staff in this mold routinely graduate into COO-track, general management, P&L ownership, or founder roles.
- Real ownership: This role carries genuine decision-making authority and the trust of the CEO, not observation, but operation.
