A local family is looking for one very capable person to turn ideas into reality. The work covers projects, community initiatives, and events.
It's a generalist role. On any given week you might be getting quotes from contractors, hiring vendors for a project, planning a gathering, or moving a longer-term community project forward. There will always be a mix of big ideas and small logistics.
This isn't a job where you wait for assignments. The family has a long list of ideas, and we hope you'll bring your own. Your job is to take a loose idea, work out what it requires, make a plan, handle the details, and see it through without needing to be managed.
What you'll do:
Projects & operations
- Own projects from start to finish: scope, budget, schedule, execution, and follow-up
- Get and compare quotes, and hire and manage contractors, vendors, and service providers
- Recruit and coordinate people for specific projects and roles
- Find and screen tenants, and coordinate maintenance and improvements on properties
- Keep a clear, organized picture of everything in progress and report on it concisely
Community projects
- Move local initiatives forward, such as beautification, public spaces, arts, and small grants and sponsorships
- Build relationships with local organizations, businesses, and the people who make things happen in town
- Navigate permits, approvals, and partnerships
Events
- Plan and run gatherings of all sizes, from small hosted dinners to casual community events, talks, and concerts
- Handle venues, vendors, invitations, budgets, and day-of execution
Who you are:
- Extremely organized. When you say something is handled, it is handled. You track details and follow through without reminders.
- Self-directed. When something is unclear, you make a reasonable plan, ask the questions that matter, and move forward.
- Good judgment. You know when to decide on your own and when to check in. As trust grows, you'll have real freedom to make decisions and spend within agreed budgets.
- Resourceful. You like figuring out who to call, what's required, and how to get it done.
- Good with people. You're comfortable with contractors, tenants, city staff, artists, and community leaders alike.
- No task is beneath you. You can plan something ambitious in the morning, then spend the afternoon hauling folding chairs.
- Discreet. Much of this work involves the family's private and financial matters.
Backgrounds that could be a great fit:
- Event or wedding planner, which is great training for juggling vendors, budgets, and deadlines
- Chief of staff, executive assistant, or personal assistant
- Project manager or operations manager
- Property manager or someone with real estate experience
- Venue, hospitality, or live-event producer
- Someone already active in local nonprofits, schools, or the arts
- Your resume matters less than your track record of making things happen reliably and with care
The details:
- Pay: $80,000–$100,000/year, depending on experience.
- How we'll start: a paid 3-month initial engagement with real projects from day one. If it's working well for both sides, the goal is a long-term full-time role.
- Schedule: Mostly regular weekday hours. There will be occasional evenings and weekends for events, with flexibility in return.
- Location: You need to live in or near Fair Oaks, or be willing to relocate.
