Lila Sciences in Cambridge, MA (One Charles Park) seeks an experienced Chief of Staff to partner with our Founder and CEO, Geoff von Maltzahn, in advancing strategic and scientific priorities. This senior operator role sharpens the CEO’s thinking, supports board and investor prep, and coordinates cross-functional initiatives.

You will bring deep technical training, experience in a tech or science-driven organization, and the ability to navigate ambiguity at an early-stage company.

Qualifications

• 8+ years of progressive leadership roles at high-growth tech or science-driven organizations.
• PhD or equivalent hands-on training in a scientific or AI domain.
• Ability to operate without a fixed playbook in a fast-moving, early-stage company.

Responsibilities

• Serve as a thinking partner to the CEO and a connector across the executive team.
• Pressure-test scientific and technical tradeoffs before they reach the board or executives.
• Turn hard scientific questions into clear plans and priorities with the strategy and technical leadership teams.
• Prepare the CEO for board meetings, investor updates, and fundraising with well-supported rationales.
• Ensure rapid communication of scientific context and decisions across the leadership team.
