Job summary

River Oaks Hospital, located near New Orleans, LA, seeks a Chief Nursing Officer to lead nursing strategy, align patient care with the hospital’s mission, and ensure high-quality, cost-effective care within a large health system.

The role requires a BSN with MSN preferred, and 5+ years in progressive nursing management within behavioral health settings. You will guide clinical practice, education, and governance across a multi-site system.

River Oaks Hospital, located minutes outside of New Orleans, Louisiana, is a 126-bed psychiatric facility that has provided quality treatment to individuals suffering from mental illness and/or addictive disorders since 1970. Situated on a 14-acre campus, inpatient services are available for adults and adolescents. We also offer a partial hospitalization program (PHP) and intensive outpatient programs (IOP) for adults. Our programs are nationally recognized for their excellence, receive referrals from around the United States, and are acknowledged as leading centers in their respective fields.

The Chief Nursing Officer is a key member of the Coastal Harbor Health System senior leadership team who will integrate and coordinate a patient centric nursing strategy with a hands‑on approach and keen focus on patient care; ensuring that delivery of high-quality and cost-effective health care is consistent with the mission, vision, and values of Universal Health Services and in accordance with government regulation, licensing and accreditation requirements. The CNO participates in the hospital’s strategic planning and contributes to the achievement of institutional goals and objectives. The CNO will focus on 5 key areas: People, Service, Quality, Growth, and Finance.

Qualifications

Job Requirements:


  • Licensure: Current license or permit to practice professional nursing in the state of LA.

  • Bachelor of Science in Nursing from a CCNE accredited nursing program; Master of Science in Nursing is strongly preferred within first year in role.

  • Demonstrated working knowledge of behavioral health nursing clinical practices, regulatory guidelines, and management.

  • Five or more years of progressive nursing management experience in a free‑standing behavioral health setting preferred

  • Ability to plan, direct, and monitor others’ activities with demonstrated leadership abilities that contribute to a positive work environment.
