The University of Miami is seeking a Chief MRI Technologist for the second shift (11:30am–8:00pm) in the UHealth Department of Imaging Services. This role leads daily operations, oversees staff, ensures quality examinations, and maintains compliance with regulations and policies.
The Chief also participates in budgeting and performance improvement initiatives, with additional MRI technologist duties as required.
The University of Miami UHealth Department of Imaging Services has an exciting opportunity for a Chief MRI Technologist. This position will be covering the second shift, 11:30am to 8:00pm. The Chief Technologist is responsible for the day-to-day operations and administrative duties ensuring efficient workflow of the section; compliance with budgetary policy; ensuring the highest quality diagnostic examinations; and compliance of State/Federal/Joint Commission regulations, department/hospital policies and procedures, objectives and philosophy. The Chief is accountable for the efficient patient throughput and 24-hr supervisory responsibility of department and of all departmental staff member’s scheduling, technical guidance, and performance improvement. The chief technologist position involves performing diagnostic/job duties as required of an MRI technologist at a level that will require no supervision of technical details.
Performs all duties of Level I, II & III technologist. Supervises imaging services, including performance or supervision of tests, and daily management of assigned personnel. Assists in compilation of statistical data for departmental evaluation purposes. Contributions to the preparation of the annual departmental budget and development of administrative and operational policies, procedures, and regulations. Responsible for hire, discipline, and promotion of department staff. Obtains and examines the diagnostic orders for appropriateness to the type of exam ordered and any special notes or comments. Coordinate/manage scheduling and patient flow for interdepartmental procedures. Collaborates in the development of in-service training for departmental staff. Completes yearly performance appraisals for the staff and handles requests for merit increases, promotions, and disciplinary actions. High school diploma or equivalent required. Graduate of accredited Radiologic Technology /Diagnostic Imaging Program. Must possess a valid State of Florida License as a General Radiographer. ARRT registered with ARRT certification in primary modality required. CPR and BLS certification required. Minimum 5 years of relevant experience. Supervisory experience preferred.
