Job summary

UCHealth University of Colorado Health is seeking a seasoned physician leader to serve as Chief Medical Officer, Revenue Cycle, guiding clinical strategy for utilization management, denials & documentation integrity across inpatient, ambulatory, and post-acute settings.

The role directs CDI, HIM, and coding functions, partners with the System CMO, and aligns clinical quality with financial objectives while leading physician engagement and AI-enabled advising initiatives.

Qualifications

• MD or DO with board certification and Colorado medical license.
• At least 10 years of physician leadership experience.
• Leadership in a national or regional physician organization preferred.
• Experience in financial management and understanding of healthcare economics.
• Understanding of clinical quality and outcomes in hospital and health system contexts.
• Experience with process improvement infrastructure and decision tools.

Responsibilities

• Lead physician executive sponsorship for CDI, HIM, utilization management, and denials management.
• Oversee care continuum integration and capacity management.
• Provide clinical leadership for coding, documentation integrity, and revenue cycle improvements.
• Collaborate with UCHealth leadership on care access, transitions, and post-acute strategy.
• Govern physician engagement and governance through PEC and related bodies.
• Drive AI-enabled physician advising programs and performance initiatives.
