Job summary

Beth Israel Deaconess Hospital Needham is seeking a Chief Medical Officer to lead clinical practice standards, quality improvement, and medical staff governance. The CMO will partner with hospital leadership to enhance patient care, safety, and regulatory compliance.

The role requires a Medical Doctorate with ABMS Board certification, a Massachusetts license, and at least 10 years of clinical practice plus 5 years of administrative leadership in quality and regulatory management.

Qualifications

• MA license required.
• Medical Doctorate with ABMS Board certification required.
• Minimum 10 years in clinical practice and at least 5 years in administrative/management roles focusing on quality and regulatory requirements.
• Master’s Degree in Business, Public Health, or Health Administration strongly preferred.

Responsibilities

• Provide leadership for quality and safety programs across the medical staff and hospital.
• Oversee credentialing, regulatory responses, and clinical governance.
• Collaborate with CNO/COO and leadership to improve clinical delivery and throughput.
• Lead Utilization Review and chair UR committee with HIM and Case Management.
• Attend Board of Trustees meetings and present on quality initiatives.
