Job summary

BlackSky is seeking a Corporate Communications and Marketing Director to shape and execute our brand, reputation and market-engagement strategy. The role partners with the C-suite to elevate our narrative and manage earned media while guiding a high-performing team across the defense, space and commercial sectors.

Based in Herndon, VA or Seattle, WA, this hybrid role requires collaboration with leadership and travel to support global engagements.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Marketing, Journalism, Business, or related field.
• 10+ years of progressive experience in corporate communications and/or B2B marketing.
• Exceptional writing, editing and executive presence.
• Crisis communications experience and sound judgment under pressure.
• A quick and enthusiastic learner who is resourceful and committed to finding solutions.
• A passion for the space industry and a natural grasp for technology and cultural megatrends shaping our world.
• Outstanding written and verbal communication skills with the capacity to explain complex technology concepts.
• Attention to detail with multiple deadlines.
• Proven ability to work with and influence cross-functional teams without formal authority.
• Candidates must be eligible to obtain a U.S. Security Clearance.

Responsibilities

• Develop and own the integrated corporate communications and marketing strategy.
• Define brand architecture, positioning and messaging across segments.
• Advise C‑suite on messaging, reputation and stakeholder engagement.
• Lead executive visibility through speeches, op-eds, panels and thought leadership.
• Partner with Government Relations for engagement with agencies and allies.
• Support investor, analyst and industry communications as applicable.
• Direct crisis communications planning and response.
• Manage external agency resources and coordinate reviews and meetings.
• Train spokespersons and create assets: briefing docs, press materials, imagery.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
