Job summary

The California Department of Public Health (CDPH) is seeking a C.E.A. Level B, Chief, Office of Internal Operations in Sacramento. The role manages CHCQ’s daily operations across multiple branches and advises the Deputy Director on capital, contracts, grants, budgets, and process improvements.

The position supports the department’s mission with a focus on efficiency, lean transformation, IT innovation, and coordination with the Legislature. Teleworking may be available under CDPH policy.

Responsibilities

• Oversee day-to-day operations of CHCQ Office of Internal Operations, including Fiscal Services, Recruitment Resources, Training, and Business Operations branches.
• Serve as primary advisor to Deputy Director on issues involving capital, fees, contracts, grants, budget, HR process improvement, audits, IT/innovation, operational efficiency, and lean transformation.
• Act as backup to the Deputy Director when liaising with the Legislature and other state departments on public health issues.
