Job description

The Chief Information Officer (CIO) is responsible for developing and executing the technology strategy to support Morongo Casino Resort & Spa’s overall business objectives. Reporting to the Chief Financial Officer (CFO), this role oversees all IT systems, infrastructure, and team operations to ensure maximum reliability, uptime, regulatory compliance, and cross-departmental alignment. The CIO leads innovation, manages technology projects, and drives continuous improvement across all enterprise-wide systems.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Collaborates with executive leadership to define IT goals aligned with organizational strategy.
  • Directs IT operations to ensure continuous availability, performance, and security of all information systems and infrastructure.
  • Oversees AS/400 mainframe and integrated system performance across all departments.
  • Maintains strict compliance with internal controls and regulatory requirements, including those set forth by the Morongo Gaming Agency.
  • Evaluates hardware and software needs and makes recommendations to improve functionality and cost-efficiency.
  • Conducts operational analysis and adjusts procedures or technologies to enhance system performance and availability.
  • Coordinates and manages major IT projects, including system upgrades, integrations, and migrations.
  • Leads the development of system recovery and disaster recovery protocols including data imaging, backups, and RF connectivity.
  • Analyzes and improves methods, workflows, and procedures related to data management and security.
  • Ensures proactive monitoring and support for 24/7 system reliability in a mission-critical resort and casino environment.
  • Designs and implements local area networks and system architectures to support evolving business needs.
  • Provides executive-level oversight and ensures cross-departmental system compatibility.
  • Performs other job-related duties as assigned.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Leads and mentors the IT department, fostering a collaborative, accountable, and high-performance culture.
  • Recruits, trains, and develops IT team members while maintaining a secure and legally compliant work environment.
  • Sets and communicates performance standards and grooming expectations; conducts evaluations and performance reviews.
  • Coaches and disciplines team members as needed and ensures enforcement of IT systems, procedures, and productivity standards.
QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Extensive knowledge of enterprise systems and experience managing AS/400, NT, LMS, SpaSoft, MACROS, and MAC operating systems.
  • Ability to oversee diverse systems including ACSC, point-of-sale, hotel management, and networking infrastructure.
  • Demonstrated ability to troubleshoot, program, and assess MCRS software and hardware functionality.
  • High integrity and discretion in handling confidential and classified data.
  • Strong leadership, strategic thinking, and operational planning skills in a dynamic, fast-paced environment.
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Business Administration, or a related field required.
  • Master’s degree in Business Administration (MBA), Information Systems, or a related discipline is strongly preferred.
  • Minimum of 15 years of progressive experience in information technology leadership, with at least 7–10 years in an executive or senior-level IT role.
  • Proven success developing and executing enterprise-wide IT strategies aligned with business objectives.
  • Extensive experience overseeing infrastructure, cybersecurity, enterprise applications, and digital transformation initiatives.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead cross-functional teams, manage complex projects, and implement innovative technology solutions.
  • Strong financial acumen with experience managing large-scale budgets and vendor relationships.
  • Prior experience in a casino, resort, or multi-property hospitality enterprise is strongly preferred.
LICENSES, CERTIFICATES, REGISTRATIONS:

Must have successfully completed a background check and obtained a gaming license issued by the Morongo Gaming Agency, as required.

Must be able to read and interpret documents in English, such as instructions, guidelines, policies, and procedures. Must also be able to communicate clearly and effectively with team members, management, and guests.

  • Stationary Work: Regularly remains seated for extended periods while reviewing strategies, analyzing data, attending executive meetings, or managing large-scale digital and IT initiatives.
  • Tool Operation: Regular use of computers, enterprise IT systems, communication platforms, data dashboards, and standard office equipment; must be proficient in digital project management tools, security systems, and network infrastructure software.
  • Visual Acuity: Requires excellent near and distance vision for reviewing detailed reports, system architecture diagrams, dashboards, performance metrics, and infrastructure layouts.
  • Working Conditions: Primarily operates in a corporate office and IT environment; may occasionally work in server rooms, field locations, or guest-accessible areas; exposure to moderate noise levels and a smoking environment when working near or within casino or operational spaces.
WORK ENVIRONMENT:

This is a dynamic, fast-paced environment that requires the ability to adapt and perform under pressure. The casino operates with moderate to loud noise levels and is a smoking environment, requiring team members to work comfortably in these conditions.

WORKING HOURS:

Morongo Casino Resort & Spa operates 24 hours a day, 365 days a year; therefore, flexibility in scheduling is essential. Team members must be available to work shifts that may include evenings, weekends, holidays, and special events. Schedules are subject to change based on business needs and may include overtime, as well as work on both weekdays and weekends.
