Job summary

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or Business Administration or a related field is preferred.
  • 7-10 years prior IT department and systems experience and prior management experience required.
  • IT experience in financial institutions preferred.
  • Must have strong written and communications skills and good organizational and managerial skills.
  • Must be able to work effectively with credit union personnel at all levels.
  • Must be able to serve as a professional representative of the credit union and work well with vendors and other financial institutions.
  • Must be able to work independently and provide strong department leadership.
  • Responsible for abiding and complying with the policy for compliance with the Bank Secrecy Act and anti-money laundering laws and regulations (BSA/AML) and the policy for compliance with office of foreign assets control laws and regulations (OFAC).

Responsibilities

  • Leads the technology operations, strategies, and objectives for the credit union, develops and implements the information technology strategic plan.
  • Develops technology-based delivery channel operations, strategies and objectives for members and staff.
  • Analyzes and evaluates new technologies and makes recommendations to Executive Management.
  • Provides strong leadership, directive and guidance for the credit union, and fosters the culture, core values, and ethics of Credit Union 1 in everyday actions and activities.
  • Works with other members of the senior management team to plan, develop, and implement services and products that will increase member account relationships.
  • Ensures regulatory compliance in all areas of the credit union’s information technology.
  • Oversees the activities of the technology of the credit union, monitors the quality of support, and ensures efficient utilization of technology.
  • Chairs the credit union’s IT Steering Committee.
  • Research industry trends in technology to ensure the information system meets member needs and strategy.
  • Ensures the IT structure is sound and compliant with laws and regulations.
  • Subscribes to, implements, and champions innovation and continuous improvement.

JOB SUMMARY

Primarily responsible for the daily oversight and coordination of the activities and direction of the credit union’s technology infrastructure and information system tools. Develops short term and long term technology objectives to provide efficient and cost effective technology tools to the credit union. Oversees the Information Technology department and the Eservices department. As a member of the executive team, this position represents an integral leadership role within the credit union. In all dealings with the public, members or employees, responsibility or ownership is taken and pending issues are followed up on.


ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS


  • Leads the overall technology operations, strategies, and objectives for the credit union, develops and implements the information technology strategic plan. Identifies strategic objectives and determines specific information technology requirements for information technology within all departments of the credit union.

  • Develops technology-based delivery channel operations, strategies and objectives for the credit union, incorporating new and proven effective deliverables and technology to members and staff.

  • Analyzes and evaluates new technologies and makes recommendations to Executive Management as to the applicability and usefulness to the credit union, and is a critical part of the executive team that oversees the overall health, safety and soundness of the credit union.

  • Provides strong leadership, directive and guidance for the credit union, and fosters the culture, core values, and ethics of Credit Union 1 in everyday actions and activities.

  • Works with other members of the senior management team to plan, develop, and implement services and products that will increase member account relationships that are consistent with the long- and short-term targeted goals and objectives of the credit union.

  • Ensures regulatory compliance in all areas of the credit union’s information technology.

  • Oversees the activities of the technology of the credit union,. Monitors the quality of support credit union staff receives related to the use of technology in their departments and branches and implements changes as necessary to maintain effective and efficient utilization of technology. Monitors the overall operations of the information systems and recommends changes to maintain an effective operation which protects the credit union’s systems from breakdown and loss of data.

  • Reviews and evaluates IT project feasibilities based on management’s requirements, priorities and cost constraints. Chairs the credit union’s IT Steering Committee.

  • Research industry trends in technology to ensure the credit union’s information system structure and equipment meets member needs and the organization’s overall technology strategy.

  • Ensures that the structure of the information technology area is organizationally sound and that departmental units are developed and maintained in an efficient manner and in compliance with all laws and regulations.

  • Subscribes to, implements, and is a champion of the innovation and continuous improvement efforts of the credit union in all processes.


ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES


  • Community service is required of all management staff. While some may occur during work hours with the permission of the President, some must also occur outside of normal working hours, at a minimum of twice per year. Community service is defined as serving on a non-profit board of directors, volunteer participation in fundraisers for social services (other than occupying a seat at a Credit Union 1 paid for table), and participation in other social services events. In addition, attendance at management mandated events will be required.

  • Meets the current standards as established for the department in the completion of all assigned duties.

  • Other duties as assigned.
