Core Responsibilities

Financial leadership and strategy

• Own overall financial strategy, planning and performance
• Partner closely with CEO on growth, capital allocation and scaling decisions
• Build and maintain financial models aligned to underwriting performance and growth

MGA-specific finance and accounting

• Deep ownership of MGA accounting nuances including premium recognition, commission structures, bordereaux reporting and loss ratios
• Ensure accurate and timely close processes across complex insurance structures
• Oversee regulatory and statutory reporting requirements

Capital and investor management

• Lead fundraising, investor reporting and board communication
• Manage relationships with VC and PE investors
• Support structuring of capacity and carrier relationships

Operational finance build-out

• Build scalable finance infrastructure, systems and processes
• Implement automation across finance and reporting workflows
• Hire and develop a high-performing finance team

Commercial partnership

• Work closely with underwriting, actuarial and distribution teams
• Drive insight into portfolio performance, unit economics and profitability
• Act as a strategic partner across all revenue-generating functions

Ideal Profile

Experience

• CFO, VP Finance or Financial Controller within a high-growth MGA, Insurtech or specialty carrier
• Track record scaling businesses in a VC or PE-backed environment
• Strong understanding of insurance accounting and reporting frameworks

Technical expertise

• Deep knowledge of MGA financial structures, including premium flows, commissions and capacity arrangements
• Experience building financial models tied to underwriting performance

Leadership and build

• Proven ability to build finance functions from early stage to scale
• Comfortable operating in fast-paced, evolving environments
• Strong stakeholder management across board, investors and executive team
• Able to drive insight and decision-making, not just reporting
• Understands how finance underpins underwriting performance and growth
