Position Overview

The Chief Financial Officer (CFO) is responsible for the strategic direction, management, and control of all financial activities of the organization. The CFO oversees financial planning, analysis, budgeting, forecasting, accounting, and reporting to ensure the association’s financial health and sustainability. This role is critical in providing financial insights and recommendations to support strategic decision-making by the CEO and Board of Directors. The CFO also oversees facilities and real estate and is a member of the Executive Leadership Team.

Duties

  • Develop and implement financial strategies to support the association’s goals and objectives.
  • Lead the financial planning and analysis process, including long-term financial forecasting and modeling.
  • Provide financial insights and recommendations to the CEO and Board of Directors for strategic decision-making
  • Oversee the annual budgeting process, ensuring alignment with the association’s strategic plans.
  • Monitor financial performance against budgets and forecasts, identifying variances and implementing corrective actions.
  • Ensure accurate and timely preparation of financial statements, reports, and analyses for internal and external stakeholders.
  • Present financial reports to the Finance Committee and Board of Directors.
  • Conduct in-depth financial analysis to identify trends, risks, and opportunities.
  • Manage cash flow to ensure adequate liquidity for operations.
  • Optimize banking relationships and initiate appropriate strategies to enhance cash positions.
  • Oversee payroll processing
  • Lead and develop the finance and facilities teams, fostering a culture of high performance, collaboration, and continuous improvement.
  • Provide mentorship and guidance to staff, supporting their professional growth and development.
  • Direct the development of all necessary reports and work associated with the annual audit by outside independent certified public accountants, working with audit staff to ensure that the association’s financial status and procedures are reported accurately and timely.
  • Oversee our portfolio of facilities (owned and leased) including the maintenance, and management of all facilities, ensuring they are safe, efficient, and aligned with organizational goals and values.
  • Provide strategic oversight and works with the CEO and Board Real Estate Committee to leverage and transform our real estate assets, including assessing, developing, and acquiring new leased or purchased properties.

Provide budget management and project management and ensure compliance with regulations and standards

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, or a related field. MBA or CPA preferred.
  • At least five years’ accounting/finance experience working in a non-profit 501c3 organization in a leadership role.
  • Proven experience in financial planning, budgeting, and forecasting.
  • Strong understanding of financial regulations, accounting standards, and compliance requirements.
  • Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.
  • Strategic thinker with strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
  • Proficiency in financial management software and systems.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with executive leadership and cross-functional teams.
