Job summary

Gardner-Webb University invites a proven financial leader to serve as Vice President for Finance and Administration. This role oversees the university's financial operations, including budgeting, accounting, reporting, and compliance, while guiding human resources and technology services in support of the institution's mission.

The VPFA reports to the President and sits on the President's Cabinet, driving long-range financial planning, capital budgeting, and strategic financial sustainability

Qualifications

• Master's degree in accounting, finance, business administration, higher education administration, or a closely related field.
• Minimum of ten (10) years of progressively responsible professional experience in financial management, including budgeting, accounting, financial reporting, and planning.
• Demonstrated knowledge of higher education finances, enrollment and tuition revenue dynamics, financial aid, regulatory requirements.
• Experience with federal grant financial management, compliance, reporting, and reconciliation.
• Ability to develop multiyear financial projections, financial models, and long-range strategies.
• Strong understanding of internal controls, audits, and regulatory compliance.
• Experience providing executive leadership for administrative functions including HR and Technology Services.
• Proven ability to work with boards and senior leadership.

Responsibilities

• Provide executive leadership and oversight of the University's financial operations.
• Lead the annual operating budget process with President and Cabinet.
• Ensure integrity of financial records and regulatory compliance.
• Oversee cash flow, debt, liquidity, and banking relationships.
• Oversee endowment accounting and investment reporting in coordination with boards and advisors.
• Coordinate annual financial audit and other required examinations.
• Lead HR and Technology Services oversight with strategy alignment.
• Guide capital planning and campus operations in financial terms.
