Job summary

Watson Civil Construction in Tampa, FL is seeking a seasoned Chief Estimator to lead private site development estimating for commercial, industrial, multifamily, and mixed-use projects. You will manage the estimating department, develop standards, and collaborate with operations and business development to win competitive proposals.

The ideal candidate has 10+ years in civil/site development estimating, strong leadership, deep knowledge of earthwork, utilities, paving, and a proven track record

Qualifications

• Extensive experience leading private site development estimating.
• Experience with commercial, multifamily, residential and industrial projects preferred.
• Strong knowledge of earthwork, utilities, drainage, paving and site infrastructure.
• Experience with negotiated proposals and hard bids for private owners.

Responsibilities

• Lead and manage the estimating department for private site development projects.
• Identify and pursue bidding opportunities within private market sectors.
• Review plans, specs, geotechnical data, surveys and contract documents.
• Prepare and oversee detailed cost estimates using estimating software.
• Perform quantity takeoffs for earthwork, utilities, paving and site infra.
• Evaluate supplier and subcontractor proposals and negotiate terms.
• Develop budgets, bids, negotiated proposals and value engineering recommendations.
• Prepare and review project schedules using scheduling software.
• Coordinate handoff with operations and executive leadership.
• Mentor estimating staff and maintain estimating databases and rates.
