Job summary

The Smithsonian Institution seeks a Supervisory Information Technology Specialist to provide strategic leadership for mission-critical enterprise software platforms supporting research, facilities, and public digital services.

You will guide governance, oversee licensing and vendor strategies, supervise technical staff, and advise senior leadership on risk and investment implications of software decisions.

Qualifications

• In-depth experience developing and implementing enterprise software governance policies and lifecycle strategies.
• Experience directing a portfolio of enterprise software platforms with licensing, vendor and risk decisions.
• Ability to supervise staff, manage performance and advise senior leadership on complex issues.

Responsibilities

• Establish and enforce institution-wide policies, standards, and governance for software platforms.
• Direct a portfolio of enterprise software platforms and oversee licensing, vendors, and costs.
• Supervise staff and contractors; set performance standards and resolve personnel issues.
• Advise senior leadership on business, financial, compliance and risk implications of software investments.
