Job summary

Momentus is seeking a Chief Engineer to lead the design, analysis, development, integration, and launch of our space vehicles from San Jose, CA. You will oversee the technical strategy, execution, and delivery, ensuring performance, reliability, and safety across programs.

You will mentor engineers, assess risks, and coordinate with program managers, product owners, and leadership to align technology roadmaps with strategic goals.

Qualifications

• Knowledge of vehicle product development across structures, guidance, navigation, software, propulsion, electronics/payloads, and testing.
• Experience in high-fidelity aerospace vehicle control, dynamics, and performance assessment.
• Strong communication and stakeholder management for high-value customers.
• Ability to lead cross-functional teams and drive to results.
• Experience with system-level design reviews and verification planning.

Responsibilities

• Manage technical integrity and baseline for Momentus programs.
• Provide independent technical assessment of requirements, design, risks, and schedule.
• Lead system design reviews and oversee verification plans.
• Mentor and guide engineers across multiple IPTs and suppliers.
• Define and maintain system requirements for flight spacecraft hardware and software.
• Collaborate with leadership to align technology roadmaps with business needs.
