Opportunity

We are seeking a Chief Discipline Engineer with experience in the power generation market to lead our mechanical and piping engineering teams.

What You'll Do
  • Develop work processes and tools to continuously improve discipline performance and select design/analytical software.
  • Manage assignment of discipline engineers for projects, participate in staffing plan.
  • Analyze and document engineering practices, manpower expenditures and costs.
  • Assess technical adequacy of the group and act as source of discipline knowledge.
  • Provide technical guidance to project staff through consultation, bulletins and other formats.
  • Guide recruiting process and assess staffing needs.
  • Support business development by developing proposals and presenting company capabilities.
  • Assist in establishing project design bases, technical requirements, work plans, schedules and cost estimates.
  • Perform independent engineering design and execution reviews to ensure conformance with project objectives and regulatory requirements.
  • Lead collection and evaluation of project performance data to maintain or improve engineering cost performance and schedule performance.
  • Lead collection and evaluation of lessons learned across the discipline.
  • Establish and monitor employee development planning and goal setting for the discipline.
  • Assist in succession planning objectives.
  • Manage salary administration, employee development, hiring, reduction in forces and termination for the discipline according to company policies.
  • Monitor compliance with state laws on the practice of engineering and company core values.
  • Act with integrity and communicate ideas clearly and listen effectively.
  • Guide department in interpreting codes and permitting process related to the discipline.
  • Comply with the company’s safety awareness program and policies.
  • Participate in development of business strategies and plans.
What You Bring
  • Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering (BSME) from an accredited institution.
  • 12 years of engineering experience with at least 5 years in supervisory capacity designing conventional and/or nuclear power plants.
  • Strong leadership skills.
  • Professional Engineering (PE) license and ability to obtain others through committee.
  • Detail-oriented approach focused on engineering and design quality.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills and active listening.
  • Take ownership of the discipline engineering process and work performed.
  • Build productive relationships with project team and other functions.
  • Strategic understanding of business objectives.
  • Strong organizational skills.
  • Strong team building skills and ability to mentor staff.
  • Understand project performance metrics (PI and SPI).
  • Ability to assist the project in developing a recovery plan if performance falls below desired levels.
  • Ability to interpret project performance data from PRISM and P6 software.
Salary Range & Benefits

Base Salary Range: $190,000.00 – $220,000.00 annually
