Job summary

A & S HOSPITALITY MANAGEMENT, LLC is seeking a Chief Engineer for Smyrna and Mt Juliet TN to oversee all building, mechanical, and life-safety systems on-site.

You will supervise maintenance staff, schedule work orders, coordinate vendors, and ensure preventive maintenance while maintaining regulatory compliance and safe guest environments.

Qualifications

• Experience with HVAC, electrical, plumbing, and general mechanical maintenance.
• Experience leading maintenance or engineering teams.

• High school diploma; technical certification preferred.
• Experience as Chief Engineer or Maintenance Manager in hospitality is beneficial.
• Flexible hours including evenings/weekends/on-call for urgent issues.

Role Description

The Chief Engineer is a full-time, dual property, on-site role based in Smyrna & Mt Juliet TN, responsible for overseeing all building, mechanical, and life-safety systems for the property. This role includes supervising maintenance staff, prioritizing and assigning daily work orders, and ensuring preventive maintenance programs are consistently executed. The Chief Engineer will lead Engineering team in troubleshooting and repairing HVAC, electrical, plumbing, and mechanical issues, coordinate vendor services, and manage maintenance supplies and equipment. The position is also responsible for maintaining regulatory compliance, safety standards, and documentation related to inspections and repairs. Day-to-day, the Chief Engineer collaborates with operations and front-of-house teams to minimize downtime, support guest satisfaction, and maintain clean, functional, and secure facilities.

Qualifications

• Demonstrated expertise in building systems, including HVAC, electrical, plumbing, and general mechanical maintenance.
• Experience leading maintenance or engineering teams, including scheduling, training, and performance oversight.
• Strong skills in troubleshooting, diagnostics, and preventive maintenance planning for hospitality or commercial facilities.
• Ability to coordinate and manage external contractors and vendors, including reviewing bids and monitoring work quality.
• Knowledge of building codes, safety standards, and compliance requirements relevant to hospitality properties.
• Proficiency in using maintenance management systems, work order software, and basic computer applications.
• Effective communication and collaboration skills to work with operations, housekeeping, and front-office teams.
• Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and ability to prioritize tasks in a fast-paced environment.
• Comfort with physically demanding work, including lifting, climbing ladders, and working in varied conditions.
• High school diploma or equivalent required; technical certification or vocational training in engineering or maintenance preferred.
• Prior experience as a Chief Engineer, Maintenance Manager, or similar role in hospitality or commercial properties is highly beneficial.
• Availability to work flexible hours, including evenings, weekends, and on-call shifts as needed to address urgent issues.
