Job summary

LBA Hospitality is seeking a Maintenance Engineer/Technician to support the General Manager in keeping all hotel areas functional and compliant with brand standards.

You will perform repairs, oversee preventive maintenance, and ensure safety and cleanliness while delivering courteous, professional guest service in line with LBA hospitality standards.

Qualifications

• 5–10 years as a maintenance engineer or technician or similar position.
• Knowledge of building trades and safety practices.
• HVAC and pool certifications preferred.

Responsibilities

• Walk property grounds regularly to oversee facilities and operations.
• Supervise and train maintenance staff; enforce safety and policies.
• Diagnose malfunctions and delegate repairs; ensure plumbing, electrical, HVAC systems are functional.
• Maintain preventative maintenance program and keep logs and checklists up to date.
• Respond to work orders promptly and coordinate with property management.

Performs repairs and preventative maintenance work to ensure the hotel maintenance quality standards are achieved and maintained. Provided excellent guest service in an efficient, courteous professional manner; following LBA standards of friendly hospitality while adhering to guidelines and procedures.

Provided excellent guest service in an efficient, courteous professional manner; following LBA standards of friendly hospitality while adhering to guidelines and procedures.

PREREQUISITES

Company associates have access to guestrooms and property. As such, character traits of honesty and trustworthiness are essential to this position and must be displayed at all times. Per company policy, potential associates must pass appropriate security clearances.

• Working knowledge of: preventative maintenance, electricity, ac and plumbing
• Five to ten years as a maintenance engineer or technician or similar position
• HVAC and Pool Certification preferred

Summary Of Essential Job Functions

• Must be able to perform major life activities: Standing, lifting, bending, learning, reading, concentrating, thinking, and communicating.
• Must be able to push or pull 100 pounds unassisted and lift and/or carry 60 pounds unassisted.
• Must be able to stand for eight hours, bend, stretch, reach, climb ladders, crawl, kneel and be low to the ground when necessary, sometimes for extended periods of time.
• Must be able to communicate with other associates and/or guests.
• Must be able to see and hear.

Requirements

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES

Knowledge

• The methods, practices, tools, equipment, and materials used in a variety of building and mechanical trades.
• Occupational hazards in the use of power tools and equipment, and of necessary safety precautions.
• Repairs and maintenance of furniture and fixtures within the hotel.
• Safety and security measures. Report or correct any hazardous conditions observed immediately.
• Guidelines for training checklist of areas to be maintained.
• Procedures for emergencies Person In Charge.

Skills

• Supervise, perform and document preventative maintenance program according to The Company and brand standards.
• Must be organized to maintain logs, bibles, checklists on schedule.
• Perform preventative maintenance and repairs as well as general maintenance on property grounds.
• Use and care of hand and power tools and equipment appropriate to the area assignment.
• Assist with guest issues, be professional and maintain a hospitable caring attitude.

Specific Responsibilities

• Walking property grounds regularly to oversee functioning of the facilities.
• Interviewing and selecting new maintenance staff.
• Oversee the maintenance staff, including discipline and retraining when necessary, in conjunction with handbook policies and procedures.
• Diagnose malfunctions and defects in mechanical and similar equipment and to determine corrective measures and delegate repairs when applicable.
• Perform general minor repairs to in house plumbing, electrical, refrigeration, kitchen equipment and HVAC systems.
• Maintain facility using consistent preventative maintenance guidelines: check and ensure repairs are made to plumbing systems, electrical systems, building interior and exterior.
• Conduct quality inspections of the property and make recommendations regarding safety, security and facility improvements.
• Respond to work orders in a timely manner.
• Train all maintenance staff and other designated associates in the responsibilities and safety.
• Work with associates regarding their role in the upkeep, safety and security of the property.
• Maintain all paperwork in accordance with LBA standards.
• Help property management determine what tools, materials and equipment are necessary to maintain the property and perform necessary maintenance and repairs.
• Ensure maintenance department and applicable staff have sufficient tools to do their jobs daily.
• All other duties as assigned and within the realm of physical capabilities.

Working Conditions/Special Requirements

• This position requires a physical presence at the hotel and is not conducive of telecommuting or remote work.
• Standing, walking for long periods of time while maintaining a friendly professional image.
• May be required to spend long periods of time outdoors in heat/cold.
• May be required to work any day/shift, including nights and weekends.
• Periodic overnight travel required may be required.
