Turn this role into an interview — a resume and cover letter built around what this employer wants.
Red 6 Aerospace, Inc is seeking a Chief Engineer to own the end-to-end system architecture of an airborne AR system and guide the technical roadmap. You will coordinate hardware, software, optics, and flight-test activities, making hard trade decisions and translating customer requirements into actionable specifications.
You will lead cross-functional teams, engage with government customers, and shape the technical future of the company while operating at startup speed with defense-grade rigor.
Red 6 is an innovative Augmented Reality (AR) technology startup leading the way in synthetic air combat training. Our primary technology, supporting our ATARS product, enables pilots to simulate the cognitive challenges of flying while accessing realistic, scalable training in dynamic outdoor environments.
You set the technical direction for a product that's never existed before, and then you watch it fly.
Red 6 is a startup doing something that's never been done: bringing fully immersive 3D synthetic worlds into real aircraft in real flight. Pilots see the actual sky around them, with realistic adversaries. Wingmen, terrain, and tankers layered into their view in real time. It replaces decades-old training methods that depend on costly live aircraft or ground simulators. Warfighters get more realistic, repeatable training at a fraction of the cost, and they show up to the fight better prepared.
Now we need a Chief Engineer to decide what will come next. This isn't a role where you inherit a roadmap and keep the trains running. You'll own the system architecture, make the hard calls, and shape the technical future of the company as Red 6 grows.
The system architecture. You'll drive the end-to-end architecture of an airborne augmented reality system, leading hardware and working closely with software to make the whole thing work together.
The hard decisions. You'll run the trade studies, weigh the options, and make critical design calls on complex technical issues.
Requirements into reality. You'll translate customer requirements into clear system and subsystem specifications and run the system analysis that proves they add up to a product that meets the mission.
The customer relationship. You'll work directly with government customers, understand where their needs are heading, and make sure Red 6 gets there first.
The technical roadmap. You'll build and guide the internal roadmap that keeps Red 6 at the front of the industry.
Cross-functional leadership. You'll bring hardware, software, optics, systems, and flight test together and keep them moving in the same direction.
You're the technical voice of the company. Your judgment shapes what Red 6 builds and how.
Your work matters to warfighters. It directly improves how they prepare for real-world missions.
Your system flies. It goes into real aircraft, built with startup speed and defense-grade rigor.
You're early at a company poised to grow and lead the industry.
