Job summary

Vision Hospitality Group is seeking a Chief Engineer to ensure safety and optimal performance of the hotel’s facilities. The role covers mechanical, electrical, plumbing, life safety systems, and grounds, ensuring compliance with laws and company standards.

You will lead maintenance activities, manage preventive programs, and collaborate across departments to provide reliable, guest-focused service in a 24/7 environment and uphold the ONE TEAM. ONE VISION. philosophy.

Qualifications

  • Physical stamina to perform manual tasks and stand for long periods.
  • Ability to work flexible hours, including nights, weekends, and holidays.
  • Fluent English communication, both written and verbal.
  • Experience with maintaining and repairing building systems (electrical, mechanical, plumbing).

Responsibilities

  • Oversee safety and functionality of hotel facilities, including buildings, systems, and grounds.
  • Direct maintenance activities and implementation of preventive maintenance programs.
  • Lead and develop maintenance team, manage contractor bids and project supervision.
  • Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local regulations and brand standards.
  • Maintain and test life safety systems and emergency procedures.
  • Communicate effectively with staff and management to ensure smooth operations.

Job Description

The Chief Engineer will oversee the functionality and safety of the hotel property, including the physical buildings, mechanical equipment, electrical system/s, heating and cooling systems, life safety systems and grounds in accordance with local, state and federal laws and regulations. They will direct general construction and the installation, maintenance, and repair of all electrical, mechanical, and architectural systems throughout the facility to ensure operational efficiency and safety. The person in this position must be able to roll their sleeves up and assist our teams when needed, living our “ONE TEAM. ONE VISION.” philosophy. This person must also provide innovative ways that align with our mission to be the best, most respected hotel company in America.

  • Complete all required training
  • Adhere to all standard operating procedures and property specific brand standards
  • Perform any other duties as requested by management to aid in better operation of the hotel and service to the guests
  • Is able to communicate effectively in writing, verbally, and in person
  • Is able to work a flexible schedule. We are a 24/7 business which may require work availability of nights, weekends, and holidays
  • Maintain a clean and attractive work area, uniform, and person
  • Maintain knowledge of fire alarm and evacuation procedures
  • Test and maintain water content of swimming pool and whirlpool in accordance with company standards and state requirements
  • Maintain parts and supplies inventory
  • Inspect and maintain elevators
  • Have knowledge of OSHA procedures and training
  • Repair furniture and structures
  • Maintain and repair general plumbing systems such as pipelines, toilets, tubs, sinks, whirlpools, pools, and drains
  • Complete weekly preventative maintenance logs, as well as QA documentation
  • Maintain and test all life safety systems
  • Assign, verify, and document completion of all routine maintenance and repairs in the property maintenance management system
  • Communicates with city/county/state officials to ensure the proper maintenance of permits and licenses, to coordinate required inspections and to ensure full compliance with codes, regulations, and safety standards
  • Leads special projects, as needed
  • Assist in monitoring and developing team member performance to include, but not limited to, providing supervision, scheduling, conducting counseling and evaluations, providing professional development, and delivering recognition and reward
  • Discuss bids with General Manager, and oversee any work contracted
  • Direct and oversee the functionality and safety of the facility, including, but not limited to, physical buildings, mechanical equipment, electrical systems, heating/cooling systems, plumbing systems, life safety systems and grounds according to federal, state, and local regulations
  • Inspect and direct general construction, installation, and maintenance of all electrical, mechanical, and architectural systems throughout the facility to ensure operational efficiency and safety.
Necessary Skills
  • Be able to bend, reach, kneel, push, and stretch and lift and/or carry up to 25 pounds
  • Can perform work for 8 hours and work in a restrictive space/environment.
  • Must have eyesight enabling vision both near and far
  • Must be comfortable using a step stool or ladder
  • Must be able to use/lift arms for up to 8 hours
  • Must be able to handle heat and stress
  • Able to work in varying weather conditions such as heat, cold, rain, etc.
  • Have finger dexterity for operating equipment
  • Must speak in a clear, understandable voice, hear at a basic level, and understand English
  • Must be able to write
  • Have dependable transportation availableHas the highest degree of integrity and is humble, living by the Golden Rule
