Job description

Location: Texas, United States (exceptional candidates from other locations will also be considered)

Who are we recruiting for?

Executive Integrity is partnering, on a confidential and retained basis,

with a fast-growing US solar and battery storage platform to appoint a

pipeline of utility‑scale solar and battery storage projects and is

playing a key role in the region’s energy transition.

This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced development

leader to take ownership of a newly consolidated development

function, one that most companies still split across two or three roles,

shaping both strategy and execution across a genuinely high‑growth

platform.

What will you be doing?

As Chief Development Officer, you will take full ownership of the

development function, from site origination through to notice to

proceed, across a multi‑gigawatt solar and battery storage pipeline.

Working closely with the CEO, the investment team and the board,

you will act as the driving force behind the company’s growth

Key responsibilities include:

  • Taking full ownership of site origination, land and GIS, permitting, and state and local affairs across a multi‑gigawatt pipeline.
  • Leading project and portfolio management from greenfield through to notice to proceed, including scheduling, budgeting and risk tracking.
  • Building, restructuring and leading a development organisation of close to 40 people, with real authority over team design.
  • Making advance or kill decisions on projects within return and risk thresholds agreed with the investment team.
  • Representing the business to landowners, local and state officials, transmission owners and offtake counterparties.
  • Presenting pipeline, schedule and budget performance directly to the CEO, board and capital partners.
  • Shaping the company’s expansion into new markets and technologies, including its growing battery storage strategy.
  • Partnering cross‑functionally with the investment team on capital allocation and risk, and with construction on project handoff.
  • Establishing governance, stage‑gating and best‑practice systems across the development portfolio.
Are you the ideal candidate?
  • You will bring a strong track record in utility‑scale renewable energy development, together with the ability to build and lead a multidisciplinary team and operate credibly in front of sophisticated investors.
  • 15+ years in renewable or energy infrastructure project development, with progressively senior responsibility across land, project management, permitting and stakeholder management.
  • A demonstrated track record delivering multi‑gigawatt solar, battery or hybrid projects to notice to proceed, on time and on budget, with the regulatory and offtake nuance that varies state by state.
  • Ideally, a background within an independent power producer or similarly structured private capital or infrastructure‑fund‑backed platform.
  • People leadership experience managing a multi‑disciplinary development team.
  • Comfortable operating in a private capital or infrastructure‑fundbacked environment, with board and investor reporting experience.
  • A genuine long‑term commitment. This is a five‑to‑seven‑year build, not a short‑term step.

science or a related field; an advanced degree is a plus.

What’s in it for you?
  • This position offers the opportunity to lead the entire development function of one of the US solar and storage market’s fastest‑growing platforms, at a genuinely pivotal stage of its growth.
  • Alongside a competitive salary and benefits package, you can expect:
  • A rare, single‑leader mandate over a function most companies still split two or three ways.
  • Direct exposure to the board and the capital partners behind the business, with real influence over its direction.
  • Backing from patient, permanent infrastructure capital rather than a fund working to a fixed exit date.
  • A performance‑linked annual bonus, 100% company‑paid healthcare for you and your family, and a 401(k) match.
  • Long‑term incentive plan (LTIP) eligibility tied to the value the business creates.
  • The scope to build a team, a function and a legacy from a genuine blank sheet of paper.
  • The opportunity to directly shape how the business enters new markets and scales its battery storage strategy.
