Job summary

Jackson County Missouri is seeking a qualified professional to manage the Audit Department in the absence of the County Legislative Auditor. You will help shape audit direction and ensure the accurate reporting of Financial, Operational, and Program audits.

The role requires a Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, or business administration (accounting emphasis) and four years in public or government auditing.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or Business Administration (emphasis in Accounting).
• Four years of related work experience in Public Accounting or a government auditing office.
• CPA license preferred but not required.
• Must possess/maintain a valid Driver’s License or other government-issued identification.
• Must submit to/pass pre-employment background check and drug screen.

Responsibilities

• Manage Audit Department in the absence of the County Legislative Auditor.
• Discuss audit program with County Auditor and staff as instructed by the County Auditor.
• Determine the direction and thrust of an audit effort, e.g., the audit report type with support of the County Auditor.
• Attend meetings and serve as representative during absence of the County Legislative Auditor.

Job Duties

Responsible for management of the Audit Department in the absence of the County Legislative Auditor. Discusses audit program with County Auditor and remainder of Audit staff as instructed by the County Auditor. Determines the direction and thrust of an audit effort, e.g., the audit report to be Financial, Operational, Program, Special Investigation, Informational and/or Statistical with support of the County Auditor. Attends meetings and serves as representative during absence of the County Legislative Auditor.

Minimum Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Finance, or Business Administration (emphasis in Accounting) from an accredited college or university.
• Four years of related work experience in Public Accounting or a government auditing office.
• Certified Public Accountant license preferred but not required.
• Must possess/maintain a valid Driver’s License or other government‑issued identification.
• Must submit to/pass pre‑employment background check and drug screen.
