Qualifications

• DEA registration and current BLS certification.
• Strong analytical, administrative, written, and verbal communication skills.
• Proven ability to manage dental staff and oversee day-to-day operations.

• Monitor performance activities including patient access and referrals.
• Oversee staffing needs and coverage for dental locations.

• Represent the dental program on Quality Improvement and Safety Committees.
• Develop relationships with community organizations and educational institutions.
• Attend local and out-of-town training opportunities and meetings.

We are currently seeking an experienced Dentist to provide high-quality clinical dental care while serving in a leadership role overseeing dental services across multiple locations. This position offers a combination of direct patient care and administrative leadership, with responsibility for maintaining quality standards, supporting dental staff, and helping ensure effective delivery of oral health services.

The Dental Director will provide clinical services as a Staff Dentist while overseeing dental operations, staffing, quality assurance, utilization review, and performance initiatives. The position will also collaborate with organizational leadership, community partners, and educational institutions to support the continued growth and development of oral health programs.

• Provide clinical dental services as a Staff Dentist.
• Maintain standards of dental care delivery across all dental locations and oral health programs.
• Monitor performance activities, including patient access and availability, utilization review, and internal and external referrals.
• Oversee staffing needs and coverage for dental locations.
• Conduct and oversee chart audits related to dental quality assurance, grant objectives, peer review, and quality improvement measures.
• Lead dental provider, staff, and administrative meetings.
• Serve as the dental representative, or ensure appropriate dental representation, on Quality Improvement and Safety Committees.
• Collaborate with organizational leadership and attend meetings as needed, including providing written reports when requested.
• Develop and maintain relationships with community organizations and educational institutions, including participation in faculty, advisory, or board activities as appropriate.
• Maintain current knowledge of funding opportunities and relevant federal, state, and local legislation affecting dental and community oral health services.
• Represent the organization and community oral health interests at the state and national levels as appropriate.
• Assist in developing additional community-based oral health programs as needs and opportunities arise.
• Attend local and out-of-town training opportunities, meetings, and conferences as assigned.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications & Requirements:

• DDS or DMD degree from a U.S.-accredited dental school.
• Current and unrestricted license to practice dentistry in the State of Michigan.
• Maintain all applicable professional licenses, registrations, and certifications required for the position, including DEA registration and current BLS certification.
• Minimum of 5 years of experience practicing as a Dentist in a group setting.
• Previous supervisory or dental leadership experience preferred.
• Knowledge of dental quality assurance and utilization review requirements and processes.
• Strong analytical, administrative, written, and verbal communication skills.
• Demonstrated ability to manage dental staff and oversee day-to-day clinical operations.
• Ability to interpret financial reports and understand applicable governmental regulations and legislation.
• Ability to communicate effectively with patients, staff, leadership, and individuals from diverse backgrounds.
• Must be able to travel between dental locations and attend relevant meetings, training sessions, and conferences.
• Full-time availability with the flexibility to accommodate varying clinical and administrative scheduling needs.
