Essential Job Functions

The Chief Data and Technology Officer (CDTO) is responsible for advancing Eskaton’s enterprise digital, data, artificial intelligence (AI), integration, innovation and technology-enabled transformation agenda. Reporting to the President & CEO and serving on the Senior Team, this leader connects strategy, people, operations, experience, data and technology to simplify how Eskaton works, strengthen resident and team member experiences, improve decision-making and build a scalable foundation for future growth.

The CDTO leads with a human-centered design mindset and embeds Eskaton’s core values—Welcoming, Bring (Y)our Best, Empowerment and Growth—into how priorities are set, decisions are made and change is led. The CDTO advances a high-performance culture grounded in belonging, clarity, accountability, collaboration, candid feedback, continuous learning and disciplined follow-through, ensuring solutions are useful, intuitive, accessible, integrated, secure and adopted and that digital investments produce measurable organizational value.

Digital Experience & Human-Centered Design
  • Develop the multiyear digital roadmap and human-centered design standards; engage residents, team members and operational leaders in co-design, pilots and testing.
  • Establish enterprise data governance, ownership, quality, privacy, architecture and common definitions; advance reliable dashboards, analytics and predictive insights.
  • Govern responsible AI use cases that reduce administrative burden and improve service, quality and productivity, with clear guardrails for oversight, privacy, security, ethics, accuracy and vendor risk.
Integration, Interoperability & Enterprise Architecture
  • Create the enterprise integration roadmap and standards across resident, clinical, workforce, financial, operational, sales and communication platforms.
  • Reduce fragmented systems, duplicate entry and reconciliation; establish scalable platform, interface, vendor, lifecycle and due-diligence playbooks for growth.
  • Lead a disciplined innovation pipeline to identify, test, measure and scale practical technologies that strengthen wellbeing, health span, connection, independence, learning, engagement and workforce effectiveness.
Enterprise Transformation, Change Management & Adoption
  • Lead transformation as an organizational change discipline, creating welcoming and psychologically safe engagement; defining clear outcomes, decision rights and ownership; empowering leaders and teams with information, authority, training and support; and reinforcing accountability, feedback, adoption and continuous improvement.
  • Maintain a transparent portfolio of priorities, dependencies, risks, decisions, adoption measures and realized benefits; hold leaders and vendors accountable for outcomes.
Technology Strategy, Operations & Stewardship
  • Provide executive leadership for technology strategy, investments, platforms, infrastructure, cybersecurity, privacy, continuity, support services, vendor performance and value realization.
  • Ensure digital, data, AI, integration and technology strategy supports master planning, service models, management services, affiliations, acquisitions and future communities; assess readiness and investment early.
  • Partner with the President & CEO and Senior Team to sequence the transformation agenda and present priorities, investments, risks and progress to executive leadership and the Board.
Experience, Qualifications, Key Success Measures, & Other Requirements
Preferred Experience & Qualifications
  • Significant progressive leadership across digital strategy, enterprise technology, data/analytics, integration, innovation, experience design and organizational transformation, with demonstrated cross-functional implementation, adoption and benefit realization.
  • Experience with enterprise data governance, analytics, integration and responsible AI; senior living, healthcare, hospitality, human services or another complex multi-site service environment preferred.
  • Strong business and financial acumen; experience evaluating investments, vendors, operating models, risk and strategic tradeoffs and presenting decision-quality recommendations to executives and Boards; demonstrated alignment with Eskaton’s values and a high-performance culture balancing excellence, accountability, empowerment, learning and stakeholder impact.
  • Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field required; advanced degree or equivalent executive experience preferred.
Key Success Measures

Success will be evidenced by measurable improvement in enterprise capability, user experience, adoption and business value—not simply by the completion of technology projects.

  • Greater ease of use; fewer workarounds and avoidable support needs.
  • Leaders use consistent measures; governed AI delivers measurable value.
  • Core platforms exchange data effectively; duplicate entry and fragmentation decline.
  • Initiatives meet readiness, training, adoption and operational targets.
  • Investments and pilots show defined outcomes and evidence-based scaling decisions.
  • Reliable services and actively governed cybersecurity, privacy, continuity and vendor risk.
  • Repeatable standards support affiliations, management partners, services and communities.
  • Values are visible in daily leadership; expectations and priorities are clear; feedback is timely; people are empowered to own outcomes; commitments are honored; and teams continuously learn, collaborate and improve.
