Job summary

Uintah County seeks a Chief County Engineer to lead the technical integrity, regulatory compliance, and fiscal management of the county’s physical infrastructure and facilities. This role oversees municipal construction projects from inception to completion and guides private development reviews.

The ideal candidate holds a Utah PE license (or eligible for reciprocity), a Civil Engineering degree, and several years of public works experience.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering or closely related field from an accredited college or university.
• Minimum of two (2) years of progressively responsible professional experience in civil engineering, project management, or municipal public works infrastructure design.
• Candidates must hold a valid State of Utah PE license or an out-of-state PE with ability to obtain Utah reciprocity within six (6) months.
• A valid Utah Driver’s License, clean driving history, and Uintah County vehicle insurability requirements are strictly required.

Responsibilities

• Manage municipal construction projects from inception to completion.
• Review private development plans for code compliance.
• Provide specialized engineering support to the Roads, Facilities, and Purchasing departments.
• Ensure public works align with long-term Capital Improvement Plans and safety standards through oversight and collaboration.

Compensation and Benefits

This full-time, exempt position offers a salary range of $74,880–$128,960 depending on experience, alongside a comprehensive benefits package including medical, dental, vision, and life insurance, retirement plans, and supplemental options.
