University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill’s University Libraries seeks a Director of Collections Strategy and Discovery to lead RAM and RDM, with a mission to develop, analyze, and optimize the library’s collections and discovery workflows.

The role emphasizes data-informed decision-making, collaboration with IT and user experience teams, and leadership of a new collections analysis unit focused on metrics, dashboards, and planning to guide investments and services.

Qualifications

• ALA-accredited master’s degree in library or information science.
• Minimum of 5 years of leadership in an academic or research library.
• Strong knowledge of acquisitions, licensing, and metadata standards.
• Excellent interpersonal, oral, and written communication skills.

Responsabilités

• Lead development and evaluation of the Library’s collection strategies across formats.
• Oversee discovery and content management innovations and licensing.
• Manage purchasing, licensing, and metadata description, including staff development.
• Build relationships with library vendors and partners.
• Coordinate standards for collection usage data across formats.
• Represent the University Library in regional/national professional associations.
